Tow Bars

Has anyone fitted a tow bar to E92 2010 M3?

Anything is possible, but you'd probably have to have something custom made. I'm not personally aware of an M3 that has been adapted to tow.

The design of the exhaust doesn't seem to permit room for a tow hitch. Also, when time comes to sell I don't think anyone wanting a used M3 would touch it if they knew it had been towing things around.

Having taken the exhaust off recently I don't think its possible, personally i can't see where it could mount to as the muffler takes up a lot of the rear end and behind and above it doesn't give any space up. Maybe if you have a custom exhaust that takes up less space there could be options.

Hi,
I am planning to put towbar on my E90 M3. I have purchased a 2nd hand BMW made towbar from a base model, it replaces the bumper reinforcement beam and has a square tongue pointing downwards inside the bumper. It has a 90 degree detachable arm for the tow ball. I have done the measurements and trial fit for the E90 M3 with my bumper skin removed, and it will easily fit with one little modification: The bracket holding the power plug needs to be moved, as it clashed with the centre exhaust bracket. I don't need to make the rear muffler smaller, but I will need to do some cutting at the bottom of the bumper skin.
I believe there is less space under the E92 bumper than under the E90 bumper, so it may be a different story for your E92.

Cheers,

What are you planning on towing? I can’t imagine it would be much fun pulling a caravan behind an M3 at 2000 rpm with the distinct lack of low end torque.
