I never send I'm on a "tight" budget. "budget" = an allocation of money I'm looking to spend. Not all the money I have access to or can afford.

$100k is plenty of play money for cars for me.

That is what I meant. For most people who say they have $100k to spend on cars, some more or some less wont matter to them.

I'd get an M3 (supercharge it), and a Focus RS (leave it outside, maybe wrap it). But that's just me.

I would go v10 r8 for sure then. The V8 isn't very impressive. Under 400whp car. The v10 has 100 more hp out of the box. My buddy with an r8 says everybody does forced induction on the V8 due to lack of power. The v10 is enjoyable as is but there is still a decent amount force inducted as well. The v10 sounds much better too imo. I wouldn't even consider a V8 r8.

Idk if it matters but I hear the AC Compressor on the R8's tend to go out, which is a pain to replace...

Why does one need two coupe-sedan thingies? Option 2. Except get a V10. I think you'd be disappointed with the V8's acceleration if you're accustomed to even the M2. It's not significantly quicker, just a more interesting engine to listen to than the N55

Yeah do that. Worth stretching a bit to get the V10 you want IMO. The V8 is a rad looking car with lots of potential but nothing you do to it will make it sound like the V10

No love for the C7 Corvette? NA V8, RWD, manual, exotic looks, great performance bargain...

I'd look into the R8 repair costs. The mid-engine setup means that even small problems can be really pricey to fix. A friend of a friend was about to get one but started looking at how expensive stuff like an A/C compressor replacement can be (hint: the engine has to come out).

People donít really drive exotic cars much because they are often unreliable and expensive to keep on the road and not very comfortable or practical. Itís rare you find one with high miles. Always impressive when you do, though.

I see no point going for V8 version of R8 when E92 is clearly better

I suggest Lotus Exige+ E92 M3. Best combination.

Probably not. I don't even want to know what the labor rates are for Lamborghini mechanics.

Iíd look at production numbers and figure that the more of them there are, the more maintainable they are. Lots more Porsche dealers than Lambo dealers as well.

Interesting that a local Porsche dealer here in the South Bay has a 2 week wait to get your 911 in for repair (coolant light flashing on a friends 991.1...). And no, they don't provide a loaner during that time.

That, and having access to more dealers (and indie shops) will make your life easier.

Remember that lots of the Lambo parts would be available from an Audi dealer, you just need the part number.

No point in getting an R8 V8 Manual, if you were getting a V10 I would vote otherwise.

R8 v10 for sure. My neighbor has one and it sounds glorious when fired up.

There are so many options for affordable beaters now, get any of them.

Since you seem to like the e92 so much, pick one up when it drops into the low 20s just to have around. They aren't going anywhere.

I got my new McLaren Spider delivered about 8 weeks ago with zero miles... already put 3000 miles on it. Storing a supercar to stare at it is insane. I drive it as much as I can

I kept the M3 (E90 M3 fully built engine and supercharged) but I hardly touch it day to day.. I do use it for family duty though at the weekends (3 kids and wife wonít fit in the McLaren at the same time! )

I don't really like any of the options. M2 + e92 M3: They both seem like cars I wouldn't want to DD given what you wrote about the 991. R8+Golf: I'm sure I'd change my mind if I had one in my driveway, but the V8 version just doesn't seem that compelling vs the V10 or lambo your neighbor has. And then there's the golf. I like Golfs and VWs in general, but I couldn't have an excellent sports car and then drive an underpowered Golf. Sorry, it would have to be a GTI---those cars are fantastic DDs. I loved my mkV GTI.

As I get older I think my two car garage would have something special and something rugged. So perhaps even the R8--or 911, AMV8, Cayman GT4, M4 GTS, maybe a couple of others. Then I'd buy something like a 4Runner TRD Pro, Raptor, Colorado ZR2, Grand Cherokee Trailhawk etc for a daily.
