The S65 and S85 don't sound all that great stock. Even modded I've heard some pretty ugly ones. The OEM exhaust mod with test pipes sounds like ass to me.
maybe the exhaust noise was underwhelming stock. but the engine/intake noise was pretty nice on the S65.

Ive pretty much bought every muffler setup after you've reviewed them and 100% agree that the corsa is the best setup. Like you've mentioned what aggravated me with most systems is the boominess and corsa manages to eliminate it. Corsa also has one of the best exhaust notes sub 6K rpm. Just need to do the tips and it will be 100% perfect.

It's a vicious cycle, congrats on getting back in an e9x. I feel the same way regarding the f8x...so glad I didn't buy one.

Nice job on the Corsa. Yeah, once you paint the cans on low hanger's it really becomes a non-issue.

The intake noise would be nice on the S55 too if BMW didn't put a 'muffler' on the intake

Have to say....
I like the S65 induction sound so much I want to leave stock exhaust alone!
I don't want it masked with more sound from the rear

(I have the UUC TSE3 on my e46)

I guess it depends on what you like. I got an exhaust before I got an SC and enjoyed the exhaust note a lot more than the intake note. I have a blower now so the induction noise is replaced with a whine.

Honestly, I'm catless, quad resonated with my Corsa and I hear EVERYTHING. It's like sound is chasing my induction sound.

My car literally sounds like a boar being raped by an Adderall fueled chainsaw. People don't say nice exhaust, they follow me, pull up and throw the 'rock on' sign with enthusiasm while complimenting it.

Hahaha, I had that happen to me the other week, gave me a good laugh (granted, I'm running catless Eisenmann). These 2 guys in a clapped out Honda in a really really Southern accent were like "Heyyyy mannnn, can you rev errr' up a couple of times?"

kitw, kind of surprised to see you back, but I guess I shouldn't be considering how many of these cars you've had. I still predict you own it for less than 1 year

P.S. I kind of lost interest in the F80 as well. I still think it's a great car, regardless of what people here (who haven't driven the car) say. It's a compromise. It's not as visceral as the S65 hands down, but it makes up in other areas. Game of give and take. But I've got my name down for an M2 and I'm 99% sure that's the next car that I'll add to the E92.

This !
This man just knows of what he is talking about ...
I'm 100% agreed about what you mentioned of our stock exhaust...

Our "double walled" stock exhaust is designed by BMW to be very quiet (And actually is a master piece)

Why ?
To let us heare the amazing intake (induction) noise of the S65 .

How ?
1-The Helmholtz chambers (Designed by BMW) on both sides of the muffler (works anti-drone)
2-The perforated pipes (2 large and 2 small areas) inside the muffler to let the sound out in the muffler and into the fibers (isolation fiber hair)

Purpose ?
Damping of sound .
Capture as much as possible of the sound and keep it into the muffler .

Now... most just know I've done the Oem exhaust mod. ( 2 large perforated method) and by myself .
And I regret nothing because now I can hear my car and it sounds really amazing !
But need to say my ears lost a lot of the intake sound , because the rear (The Oem.exhaust mod.)became louder also inside cabin .

Would I go back ?
The answer is no ! ( never )
Because an ///M3 needs to be heard inside and outside the car.

Conclusion ?
I prefer to hear the exhaust and still 50% of the intake noise .
And a perfect balance in exhaust sound and intake noise was found....

Probably my favorite unintended benefit of the IPE valvetronic/MS Stg. 2 Intake after I picked it up. Valves closed is all induction symphony, valves open its like the two are competing to be the loudest and most raucous.

kitw: Good write-up! Looks like the AFE was no match for a prettied-up Corsa. If they adjusted the aesthetic from thee factory I'm sure they'd be selling them hand-over-fist as the sound is so dead-on for this car.

I apologize if you've already covered this, but I didn't see it anywhere: where did you source those exhaust tips from? It looks great!

I just noticed that the Corsa exhaust is offered with a black exhaust tip option. Is there any size difference w/ the black tips vs. the standard tips?

Sorry everyone, took awhile to get this out.

I really like this exhaust setup!

Very happy with the way things turned out. There is no real drone, but you get a bit of a higher pitched hum on the freeway. Not annoying to me, I kind of like it.

More shots from inside the car, soon.
