Whistle Sound + parts + Crazy
Hello from Spain, I have been spinning this sound for a while .. it appeared after doing a full maintenance of bearings and fulls stage 2 evolve. I thought it was a pulley problem .. I changed everything .. tension pulleys etc .. but everything is the same ... now I start thinking that it can be the ICV or the wáter pump .. the sound is like a whistle that is paired to the rpm of the engine .. it looks like an air intake or similar .. but it is checked all connections to the intake .. to see what you think .. The car works perfectly

Yes.. this área.. power steering.. or wáter pump… but i conect the ac.. and nothing diference… move the steering and nothing.. only sound with the rpm..
I have disconnected the manifold intakes to test .. and the sound is similar but it does not sound the same .. these days I will see with a stethoscope to see if I find something else .. The similar cases that I have seen in this and other forums have been .. ICV or power steerign Last edited by ALCOBENDAS; 11-20-2018 at 10:03 AM.. |

I had the same sound. What I did was slowly remove all the intake system components piece by piece. After every piece, give the engine a rev and see if the sound is still there.
In my case, I localized it to the intake plenum sitting on the engine. There was a small air leak at the joint between the top and bottom halves. Fixed it with some epoxy. |

Today I did some tests ... I took off the intake and put the ear in the plenum .. the noise did not seem to come from there inside .. I covered the whole plenum and filled it with smoke .. the smoke was not going anywhere ... I'm back like I was at the beginning .. I do not know if it will be from the water pump .. power steering .. or I do not know the truth ..
I would have to start changing expensive pieces .. playing the lottery .. |

I had a similar sound recently. 110k mi. I replaced the idler pulley, tensioners, and tensioner pulleys. Sound went away, but not sure which item did it.
