New '09 M3 coupe to start being built next Monday...

Just ordered a new '09 E92 M3 coupe while here in Germany. I get my VIN this Friday and they start building it in the Regensburg plant in Munich next Monday. The engine will be hand assembled at the Motorport GmbH plant in Garching. The car takes one week to build then it will be shipped here to Kaiserslautern (where I purchased it) for final inspection/customs prep and then shipped back to SC for me to pick-up in early May when I return. Can't wait...

Specs:

6MT Coupe
Space Gray
Black leather
Carbon trim
19" wheels
Premium/Technology packages
Upgraded sound
Heated seats
iPod/USB/Smart phone
Final price: $62,945

They are gonna take pics when it gets to Kaiserslautern next week and send them to me before it ships. I'll post for sure.

Geography lesson #2, Regensburg is a city in Bavaria as is Munich, but two different locations. No biggie....in the big picture, but about half the distance for our E93 to travel on its way to our military dealer. Search for BigWindy's Regensburg plant tour pictures, pretty interesting....

Ours should be going into production any day now, so perhaps they will be getting assembled at the same time.

As an aside, it sounds like you were TDY over here, so you may not be able to escape the federal import duty. If you happened to PCS, having a set of PCS orders in the care when it ships may save you this, from what I understand, to establish that you possessed the car prior to physically leaving Germany.

Happy motoring when you get it!
