Driven 33,000 miles in 12 years is about 52 miles a week. That's not much. While that sounds good, a car sitting for long periods of time is not good.
When your mechanic checks it out, make sure he tells you whether or not the car is throwing or has ever thrown any codes. Look especially for DTC codes 2B57, CDBF, CD93, U1141,U1140.
I am the original owner of the same car in red.
If the car is stock I suggest you leave it stock.

My mechina has checked it. Almost flawless. Needs fluids change and 4 new tires plus a brake line replacement.
Had a third party check a service in China. Report came back is top score.
Might just change the rod bearings as well just to feel safe.
