I'm assuming the new block will require all that as I won't trust a random block. More to come...

aftermarket xpipe/cats

3 seasons of double tracking are probably more than what any cat can take.

Very sad news, sorry to hear!
Wish you best of luck getting it sorted.

What was the mileage on the motor? It was fairly low right?

How many miles do you have on BE bearings? It would be good to find out how they look.

Can you share the brand of Xpipe/cat?
I've never heard of this issue, and figured plenty people track with cats. That's nuts.
Still feel for you, brother ...

Anyone else think the misfire/smoking/bad cat may play into an injector issue?

Plenty of people track, but as everything in this world, there are many different levels of tracking. Just like 'racing', where people which are practically parked on the track talk a lot about their AER/Chump/whatever racing teams.

I don't think there are many cars that are double-tracked to this level. And as always, depending on the speed you start to see issues.

The best high flow cats are gesi or hjs (or hjc?). They are warrantied for two years. My xpipe lasted longer than that.

The xpipe is the ess hfc xpipe. For what its worth, I don't blame the xpipe. I should have been tracking with either cats in the secondary position vs the ess one that puts them in the primaries or just run full catless during the track season

What x-pipe/cat combo were you using?

When I decided to put cats on the MRF x-pipe I had, I chose HJS specifically after reading the following post.

This would not be the case with Akrapovic catalysts or HJS units. 100 CPI cats were tested during the prototyping phase of the MRF pipe and saw no difference in power and volume.
Given the price we're charged for x-pipes, I never thought that manufacturer's would actually be putting sus cats in place that would actually clog.

Lesson learned on my end. I'm sorry for your loss, btw. I look forward to seeing what y'all do moving forward.

Usually injectors on this car stay stuck in 'full open' when they fail. In that case they strip the cylinder and you have a boom not long after

I did replace one of the injectors along with the pile of parts i threw at it at first

Given that hjs warranties their cats for two years and mine lasted three i do not expect the result to be different

Not that I'll try cats again on a car that is dedicated to the track. It's easy to swap to the oem xpipe for street driving

Definitely not.

I've driven lots of cars as an instructor. M4 GTS, Cayman GT4 with every mod known to mankind, 997.2 GT3... I wouldn't trade any of them for the E9X.
