Highly doubt he's a troll with that post count and how long he's been around. He does seem to like to belittle the M3, which boggles my mind.

Someone posts in a forum for M3 owners about what it would take for them to 'come back', when they haven't left, yet I'm the troll based on post count alone.

lol I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm just trying to point out that the OP clearly isn't a troll and that, probability wise, you would be one.
Didn't mean to offend you..but back to the topic at hand.

I don't think you really understood the OP's question. I think he means, "What would it take for you to stay with BMW and the M3?" If I may, do you even know what a troll is? The original post did not in anyway shape or form try and start a fight, anger anyone, or cause trouble. It was a question. Your post count(mine as well) would fit a troll more then his does. Some people take things wwwaayyy too seriously.

FI is inevitable for BMW. i just see no way around it.

CAFE is going to continue to demand that BMW get more fuel efficient. and most of us can't deal with 10 mpg anyway. and we are going to lead the charge of BMW customers demanding that the next M outperform its competitors...the new Shelby has 650 hp FFS!

FI is the only way that i can see where BMW has even a shot at hitting both goals.

If they can move the bias from luxury GT to sports car (NA, high rev, light etc), then I may buy.

I don't care if they make an AWD Diesel M truck. If it makes money for them so be it (like Porsche). Just give me a proper sports car.

Spec sheet (3552lbs for the M3)
http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...-amg-jan12.pdf

Article

It does however appear that the test M3 had very few options (6 speed, cloth seats, no sunroof, no iDrive) so that would help with the weight.

Every C63 coupe has a giant glass sunroof that adds weight up high. The M3 is more than 400 pounds lighter and has a 1.5-inch-lower center of gravity—two reasons the BMW enjoys livelier handling than the C63. Directional changes happen faster and more lucidly while the tires give up grip more progressively, making the M3 easier to gather back up. From the manual gearbox to the higher-revving engine, the M3 is the more involving car."
Sooo debate over....the M is over 400 pounds lighter then the coupe....I'm sure the benz is a great car, but even with its awesome motor i can't get over the honda accord looks for 80k+....as far as the M name being plastered all over everything i agree...today a gentleman passed me driving a new X3 with a giant M badge on the back that he put on for some odd reason...that being said there is no worse offender of this then AMG...please...AMG R-Class anyone??? But to answer your question....to earn my business back BMW just has to keep doing what they are doing...if the move to the F80 is as progressive as the move from the E46 to the E92 i'm sold....if its a glorified 335 ill be moving on to a 991 911...and as far as all audis looking the same...in my humble opinion the A7 and the S5 are two of the better looking cars on the road..

I wish BMW would give us a US version of a gts or csl model. 3-400 pds less weight,
better brakes, 450-475 horses. A BMW GT3. Almost bought a GT3, but needed the all around virtues of the M3. C63= great car, however the glass roof shows what it's mission is. It's a 2012 model of a 1970 Chevelle ss 454.

I too question this young man's threads or reason for being a member here on M3post, if never owned an M3 and most likely only owned 1 BMW all his life. At 22 years of age, probably living at home, it sounds like you've had to make little to no major changes in your life. As you get older, 28+ range, your life will begin to changes, your priorities will change, you will not cling to minor things like badges as a reason to call into question a car companies success or quality.

For BMW losing a customer who is 22 years old, is not really a loss. I think if BMW would lose their 20year + customers, they would start questioning, but then again BMW makes too much money.

But why does BMW make so much money? Its success.

The M3, in all generations has been VERY successful, any owners of the current generation M3 has always been in one of the best cars in the world, this has not changed with the e9x series. Think of the e30m3 when introduced, e36m3 at launch, e46m3 at it's opening and now the e9x m3s carrying the torch out STRONG.

The M3 has won so many accolades, year after year, it really begs the question of WHO exactly would open up a discussion topic stating "What will it take to bring you back" as if there was some huge failure on BMW's part in designing the M3, as if there was some gross wrong that was done to M3 owners. When infact, BMW has provided one of the baddest machines around, the lightest v8 engine, high reving, comfortable, a long standing best of all worlds car...

It blows my mind that somebody could walk away and say that the M3 is garbage and it will take more to get them back to BMW. But then I think back, and remember, the OP does not own an M3.

As an owner of the current generation M3, if the next M3/4 is a step up from what I have now, you better believe I'm coming back for more.

+1 I was thinking the same thing. I think most of us are pretty happy with the current gen M3, and since the next gen version isn't out yet, it is a big assumption that it will be so bad that existing owners will have no desire for it. I'll admit I have definite reservations about going FI, but in the right package, it is not necessarily a deal breaker. So yes, I'll agree with some others and say yes, this thread is a bit trolling and argumentative, but opinions may vary.

as long as BMW has something that sticks to "the basics" (the 135i/1M was a great move), I'll be happy
