My car came with Lux LEDs when I got it. I couldn't swap to Osram halogens soon enough. The Lux looked aftermarket. I also think turning up the AEs to 13.6v helps a lot.
Yea I hear ya. Definitely a bit of semantics. I think my definition of period correct might be slightly looser than others.

Many here agree that with the LCI models they should’ve upgraded the AE on the M3s.

Obviously personal preference. As with anything else in life, ya like what ya like!

Appreciate everyones opinion and definitely agree about the LCI model could've of use AE upgrade and even so, the Brake system should have been upgraded as well with 4-6 pots up front would've been nice.

2012 BMW E92 M3  [9.00]
To each his or her own and happy motoring.

To me, and ymmv, there is something to be said for a generation of M3 cars when that particular generation is destined to go down in history as the only M3 generation in your or my lifetime that embodies an eight cylinder, naturally aspirated engine which is deemed a masterpiece having owned the 3-4L segment of the IEOY's (International Engine of the Year) awards from 2008-2012. Good luck finding another engine that did as much.

To me, I can only wonder why any owner of what is becoming a Bavarian dinosaur (think unicorn) would even consider altering it in any way that makes it look more like a run of the mill, people hauling standard 3-series. Yes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Somehow, I still cannot believe that many E9x M3 owners do not seem to realize what they have in their grasps. The E9x M3 is unique. The amber halos do not scream "Look at me" but they do project something else - bees nees - instead of "I am here!' All in favor of leaving the flashiness to Audi (VW+) say "Aye".

I realize that not all buyers see performance cars as keepers.

Naturally aspirated or bust with a manual transmission is all that trips my trigger. Good luck to all searching for their M3 unicorn.

Yes, I am extremely biased in favor of cars that guzzle gas, have huge carbon emission footprints (tree leaves love carbon monoxide) and rev beyond 8k without costing 5k for an oil change.

well said sir, I will be keeping mine for the long haul. keeping it NA for now per enjoying my CF Eventuri Plenum and if I have an itch for more power I can always upgrade to a Harrop or ESS. Happy Motoring to you too.

Having had both, lux on my old e90 M3 and now OEM on my e92 M3, I can honestly say I prefer a "whiter" color. Maybe not white-blue but definitely less yellow than OEM.

The Lux 180 amber doesn't look too bad either IMO

Mine light up the center bulb a lot, and yours doesn't seem to do that. Did you do anything different to the headlight?

Honestly probably the angle of the photo. Yours is more straight on and the other shot is off center. You can't get fully illuminated / evenly lit rings with just a bulb replacement, the OEM design doesn't really allow for it unfortunately. IMO the most evenly lit solution for original rings is the stock bulbs.

My headlights are OE, you may want to check the way the your ballast inside is setup, assuming you installed it yourself, maybe rotate it a few degrees to check how the light reflects. Here is a different shot at a similar angle your picture. Gluck
