DIY: IND Red Steering Wheel M Button

Tools needed:
- T20 Torx socket
- Flathead screw driver or thin pry tool

Step 1:
Remove the three T20 torx screws on the back of the steering wheel.

Step 2:
Remove the center trim from the steering wheel and place it on a flat surface.

Step 3:
Remove the two T20 torx screw from the button controls that house the M button.

Step 5:
Remove the button controls out from the steering wheel trim.

Step 6:
Gently take off the backing using a flat head screw driver.

Step 7:
You are now able to remove the factory M button and insert the new red M button.

Step 8:
Snap the backing cover into place

Step 9:
Insert the button controls back into the steering wheel trim and tighten down the two T20 torx screws.

Step 10
Now you can snap the center trim back into the steering wheel and tighten the three T20 torx screws.

Finished!

I ordered it today, should be receiving it the 10th. From order to shipped it must have been less than an hour lol. It should match up nicely with my Splatter Trim

+1. At first I thought it was pretty ricey with the F90 having red starter and red M drive buttons. But I think just the small M Drive button alone on our E9Xs is a nice touch. Hopefully I'm right after installing it lol.

Good point. I hope the lighting is just through the circle and the M letter and not bleeding into the red button. That would not be appealing.

I couldn't figure out how to detach the steering wheel buttons from the steering wheel so I performed the swap while the button unit was still connected. Not too painful but had to do it at an angle. If you can get your control buttons completely removed from steering wheel then it would be a piece of cake. It took me about 40min from start to finish for the Mbutton. About 10min start to finish for the push start button. Also the M button fit a little snug when seated which had me concerned with getting stuck when depressed however once reconnected to the retractable button, it performs like stock!
