Pretty cool experience today

Today we had an amazing day up in the northeast. Wife is gone with the kids to spend the day with the inlaws, leaving me and my baby to have some fun on the road. So im cruising along at 75mph on route 84east heading towards guitar center up in manchester CT. I look back In my rearview mirror and notice a CT state trooper driving behind me. So im thinking shit hes gonna nail me for going 10 over the limit. I look back and notice him pull to my left and then flash his lights. I look over and he rolls his window down and gives me a thumbs up with a smile. I proceed to give him a salute and then he took off. That made my day! Its always good to run into a cool LEO like that.

I had a similar about 2 weeks ago......coming from working out about 7:30am and pulled up to a light next to one with my windows down. Light turns green and I take off and we get caught by the next light. He pulls up and rolls his window down and says" I hear you over there....sounds really nice" I thank him and say " how about you block off some traffic and let me go so you can really hear it". He laughs, hits the whaler and lights and throws me a wave............Phil

Most LEOs are genuinely great people who really care about society. Only a few are real dicks (like in any profession)

The problem lies in the fact that when joe citizen has an encounter with an LEO who is being a dick, he is completely helpless and at the mercy of the LEO at the time. If he says or does anything, now he is "resisting" or being "uncooperative", etc. and it all just spirals downhill from there.

my old hood--i once remember the CT state troopers had some pretty cool stealth cars. I was once pulled over by a Volvo 760 turbo wagon, and they had a Buick GNX.

I take it you work at UCONN health center? I used to do research there back in the days of medschool.

I picked up my new M3 a couple of months ago. My first "nice" car, coming from subaru's and honda's.

I'm a careful and safe driver. I never speed intentionally. I drive my wife NUTS with the speed limit thing.

Here's a good cop story to add to the mix...
It was late at night and I was going 65 in a 45 on
a dark section of road between the hwy and city streets. I saw the copper
sitting in the darkness awaiting his prey too late and I zoomed towards him. We
both had our windows down enjoying the night air. I downshifted my DCT
abruptly and slowed down fast to the speed limit and as I passed him he hit
me with his spotlight. "Ahh shit I'm screwed", I thought.
"Here we go..." As I reached the street light waiting for the inevitable,
I was sure he was going to pull me over. Instead he pulls up beside me at the
street light and we start a conversation. he looks irate and really
pissed off, flames coming out of his ears and he says "If you ever rev that
engine at me again we're going to have a serious problem!"
Dazed and confused with the hilarious and precarious situation I said "Ummm
yes officer, I'm sorry Sir, it will never happen again!" I bowed my eyes and
head in submission and he said "OK just keep your speed down".
I thanked him and wished him a good night, the light changed and
we drove off... He thought my rev match downshift was a taunt!
Vrrooom Vrrooom catch me if you can!
Ya right as if!!

Amazingly cool LEO, I was shocked that he let me off, especially with
the misunderstanding and his emotional intensity. M3's got good Carma
