Bug Stuck in Rear Window Light
How the heck do I get this bug out easily? It's stuck in the rear light... does that unsnap from the inside easily?

Use a plastic wedge pry tool to remove the small panel over the light. You can get access to the that way. It's only stuck on the glass by friction / vacuum.

I had something from the factory as well. It is easy...pull off the 3rd brake light cover. There are two plastic tabs that you pull outwards where the light unit attaches to the roof. They slide out to the sides, and are replaced very easily. Just don't mess with the wires.

- Cover hinges from the back window to the front, so DO NOT pull the cover down from the front, or you'll break the clips. Grab the cover from as far back as possible (near rear glass), stick your fingers, and pull down until it unsnaps. There're 2 clips on the rear. Once the rear clips unsnap, keep pulling down carefully by sliding your fingers forward of the car, to unsnap other 2 45º clips near the front. When those unsnap, then you just pull the cover towards the rear window at about a 45º angle to clear the 'L' tabs facing the front of the car. For the light, just push the 2 tabs outward to unclip the light. But I'd remove the small white connector (not the ribbon one) first so you don't accidentally pull it. That'd allow you to completely remove the light to clean the area and light well. Hope this helps. |

I too have a bug stuck in the exact same place, only smaller. I am not going to try to remove the light because on my friend's car, the light could not be reinstalled properly after removing it. He ended up replacing the whole back window.

I'll have to go look, but I'm wondering about using compressed air to blow the little bastards out of there. (Either air compressor or those keyboard cleaning type cans.) The bug has to get in, so maybe it can be "blown away"? |

OMG I noticed the other day I have one in mine also! That space is so small I could not figure out how it got in there. I'll have to remove the cover to get it out. Funny how we all have the same issue; I have never had that before in any car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So weird I had one in there as well. Is that area of the factory the roach motel? My dealer got the bug out, under warranty of course.

Bumping this up ... Got a little dead bug stuck in my third brake light as well. Can anybody add to the instructions above? Prying and pulling up and unsnapping things - combined with the horror story about replacing the window - is never a comfortable proposition!

Funny so many get stuck in there. The process to remove/clean seems simple, but also delicate and I am afraid of applying pressure incorrectly. Any other details/tips/photos to help explain the process? Thanks!
