Key Fob Problems

Both of my key fobs failed at roughly the same time. My car has Comfort Access. The last time the batteries were replaced was about 4 years ago, so I just purchased two fresh 2032 batteries. After installation everything worked just fine. I checked the batteries and the voltage on each was 3.06 volts. After about 3 weeks both key fobs stopped working. I pulled out the batteries and the voltage was down to around 2.7 volts. I put in new batteries and everything worked. I understand that sometimes the keyfob buttons can not fully retract and this keeps a small current flowing which will discharge the battery. However it would seem unlikely that both key fobs would have this failure mode occur at the same time? Any experts on the comfort access key fobs have any ideas on this problem?

My bet is on a bad set of batteries. Try again.
