Just had a Charger as a rental car. Interior was very nice. I had the V-6 model, and it was adequate on acceleration. Suspension was really under damped. Needed good set of coil overs on it.
Here's the deal, it was good enough that I actually went online to investigate getting a manual transmission Challenger. I may even test drive an R/T w/Scat pack or a 392 for kicks. I anticipate it will underwhelm in suspension dynamics, but the low end grunt will be spectacular. If I'd have been blindfolded before setting foot in the rental car, I'd have guessed it was a European sports car interior (size notwithstanding). This isn't the American crap car we've become accustomed to! I wonder how the rod bearings are on the 392? Too soon?

for what the S65 is. a 4.0L with around 400HP, and revs past 8kRPM. Its pretty crazy how many problems it doesn't have.
the 392 doesn't rev nearly as high, and its a lot bigger. Probably going to overall be more reliable. BUT one thing i learned is that when it comes to high powered engines, a lot of them will have a weak point. I remember when I switched to the E92 M3, from my LS3 v8 camaro. I loved how the S65 really only had one problem, that was the bearings. Its something that you can change out, and watch. If your LS engine went, it could have been bunch of different things. like oil pump, lifter, valve spring etc... i lost sleep over the oil pump failure storys. specifically since mine was modded. |

Getting out of my 2009 M3 and into my Brother's supercharged 2010 Challenger SRT8 is not a let down. Most people that buy a Challenger (such as myself), don't do it because it wins laptimes, but because it's like driving a muscle car from the 1970's with modern conveniences (like not having to replace points in a distributor on the side of the road). It captured all of the great feelings that I had driving my first car, a 1970 buick skylark. |

I've driven new BMWs since 1994 and the Charger plastics feel every bit as good as the ones in my 2011E90M3. The Camry plastics felt as bad as my 1974 Plymouth Valiant. The Charger is at least VW quality interior, maybe even Audi. Regardless, I was stunned at how good the overall package was for a $27k American car.
