Rim seal leak

I put my winters on a few weeks ago and found one tire leaking 100% of air in 3 days. Took it in - checking for a nail or what have you - found out rim seal was not holding, they reaseated the tire and that one is fine. Now two others are leaking - albeit much more slowly. What's the deal with this? I've never had it happen to me in any of my wheels and I've always had at least two sets.

The set on the car now are factory wheels re-shod with winter rubber maybe 2.5 years ago. Makes no sense. Any thoughts?

It's a bit of a waste of cash to have them reseated, not to mention a huge PITA to get the TPS warning, have to stop, get the compressor out, etc.
