What 3M Tape Thickness for Performance Spoiler?
There are many threads indicating generically that 3M automotive adhesive tape has worked fine to install the performance spoiler. Another post provides a link to a product (see http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...02&postcount=5).
But on the 3M website there are a myriad of products with differing thicknesses: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...beS2Z15RR9ZVgl It appears that the thickness of the tape required depends on the particular piece being installed. Small pieces seem to require thinner tape and larger pieces thicker tape, per the 3M descriptions. Can anyone tell me what the proper thickness 3M tape is for the performance spoiler? It seems 3M recommends a 45 mil tape (4218P) for lightweight spoilers. Then there are the "Acrylic Plus" tapes. Anyone know what the proper tape is for this application? BTW, I did order the betalink just in case the tape does not inspire confidence come installation time. |

From Dan of UnitedBMW (site sponsor) when ordering the performance spoiler.
But what thickness is it? The thickness required seems to depend on the application. Smaller pieces = thinner tape. |
