Looks like a sealcoat was put down to slow down the degradation of the asphalt. As the others mentioned not for grip improvement but done along with the cracksealing to try to prolong the life of the asphalt. Sure does look purdy but that tar though

i've always thought if i somehow came upon a ton of money like winning the lottery, i would buy willow springs and refinish it. i think it would be cool to have a proper runoff, and a bridge over the main straight leading to an observation deck with a little cafe and small pond or something. lights for night events during the summer. sounds too grand, i know, but if its a fantasy- might as well make it a good one.

Remember, huge sticky tires on this mofo with lots of downforce (Rivals, 315/335). Been happy with the Hawk DTC-60s front and rear, no fade ever. Probably my fifth set of them. I could typically get about 6-7 track hours at Autobahn CC out of the front pads which I think is pretty good given the car's performance.

On the back straight on street tires, I went from 45 to 145 to 45 lap after lap. If I had sticky tires and your power, I'd have a spare set...of underwear.

COTA, like Laguna, is pretty tough on brakes in my whole 3 days of experience at COTA.

Yep. Didn't plan on selling but I really have to get rid of some clutter in the garage. This is my second set of track wheels and I'll get a matching set of apex's when I get settled in the new place.
