UPDATED (Post #55 & #70) 2010 E90 M3 With Bad Squeaking / Creaking in Front Door

UPDATE: See Post #55 and #70, Page 3

I bought a used 2010 E90 M3 with 10,500 miles two weeks ago. I've noticed that my driver side front door squeaks / creaks. Going in a straight line on a smooth road is fine. However, if I were to turn or just go up/down an incline on a drive way (especially at slow speeds), the front driver door makes a squeaking, creaking, noise. It sounds like it's a plastic noise....but it might be something behind the plastic panels. My E90 does not have extended novillo leather so the top is covered with plastic.

My 2008 E90 M3 had no squeaks or creaking noises (or course, this car had extended novillo leather, which wraps the entire door with leather).

I'm wondering if other members have a squeaking or creaking noises in their doors. And if you do, specify if you have extended leather or not.

It's so annoying that I'm taking it into the dealership in a week.

I also have a '10 E90 M3, no extended leather either, and have the same creaking/squeaking sound you described. It's only noticeable on driveways/slow speeds or when I'm driving on a particularly rough surface. It sounds pretty awful - my 4-cylinder Toyota has less squeaks! - but I have given up with finding the source of it at this stage. Over 3k rpm, the engine and exhaust drown it out

when my car creaks like that interestingly enough grease or lube on the door hinges solves that for quite a long time even though it sounds like it's coming from somewhere else.

Its most likely the door seals. I believe its a common problem in all e90's cause my 335d creeks just as you have described. The solutions are to lubricate or put some kind of tape. I had the tape put on at the dealership because this is a known problem but I can still hear a little bit of the creeking.

I have a 2011 and have the same problem. It's terrible and I only have 7,000 miles. My 206,000 mile Toyota Sequoia is more solid.

My Dealership doesn't know how to fix. I too have heard about adding grease to the window seals but my Dealership hasn't.

What kind of lube or tape did your dealer put on?

No problem on my '08 E90. Do you have it garaged or does it stay outside? If it's outside then the seals are getting dry and thus the creaking. The other thing to keep in mind is when you wash your car remember not to use harsh chemicals/soaps. This will speed up the drying process especially if you go through car washes or wash by hand but neglect to rinse properly.

Seals where? I doubt it's drying seals...the car is only 13 months old. My 2.5 yr old coupe never made any squeaks.

I suspect that the creaking and the squeaking is due the seals attached to the door and the seals attached to the car rubbing against each other or against the interior paint in the door jambs. The rubbing will most likely happen on rough roads or going up driveways. My car is a 2009 with 11.5K miles that is always garaged (home and work). The seals are definitely not dry as I checked them last night.

It would be really helpful if the people who have used lubricant or tape to take photos of what they did to help us all alleviate this issue.

Thanks!

I have this plus 15 other squeaks creaks and squawks. Oh and attached to all this is a nice cowbell to go with it to let everyone know I'm coming down the street.

Currently I'm in a rental Mazda 3 and I run it over bumps speedbumps potholes dips and steep driveways. I'm trying to make it rattle but I won't make a sound. Dead quiet inside. 14k car built better than the M on the interior and they used cheap plastic crap.

In my M I avoid all the above with pure passion yet the interior rattles and creaks like a fuck Kia. I may just sell this car... Sigh

I have a 2011 E90 M3 (non extended) with 2000 miles that creaks. Not sure where its coming from but seems to be a combination of door, dash seats, etc thats noticable at slow speeds. My 08 E90 M3 (non extended) never had that problem.

Hmmm....anybody with extended leather care to chime in? It seems like the problem is most prevalent amongst E90 with non-extended leather.

It was (door seals) on mine. Dealer lubed it & it's gone.

You have warranty, take it to the dealer and let them deal with it.

Nice, did you find out what specific lube they used so I can be specific when I bring the car in?

Extended leather here and I have the problem.

I also had a 2008 E90 M3 with Extended Leather, had the same problem.

Dealership just greased my window seals last night - will see this weekend if it worked.

When you say door seals, are you referring to the weather stripping that frames the edges of the door?
