Lol I have that same problem now. It only rattled at precisely 3000-3200 rpm lol. It's not really noticeable so I'm ignoring it for now >.<

If it's only whistling in gear it could be the butterfly in your idle air controller. Would be dirty and not sealing tight

Your service details mentioned it was covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty. Anyone else have experience with this? Wondering if my out of warranty car can get this replaced.

In Post #50 Above, the attached image from the dealer mentions "Air Collector Covered Under Federal Emissions Warranty".
Can anyone provide more information on this? |

If the other poster got it replaced under warranty then it's a pretty safe bet that all BMW dealers should cover it. Usually if you bring your car in they won't just go off of what you say... they will do their own diagnosis and probably charge you a diagnostic fee. If they conclude that the problem is indeed covered by warranty they will fix for free and refund your diagnostics fee. If it's not covered warranty then you lose your diagnostics fee and you can then choose to pay whatever fee they are charging to fix the problem or just take your car back.

As crazy as the whistling was driving us it makes sense suggesting to look for a thread whilst posting in said thread. Thanks for the laugh tonight Winger.
