Headliner sagging
Has anyone had their headliner replaced recently (last year or so) and been quoted a reasonable price?
Mine has been starting to sag in just certain areas for the last few months and by now the entire headliner is pretty much drooping down. Local upholstery shops have quoted me $1400 and $600 so far.

I had mine done at a local auto reupholstery shop. It can be done DIY, but not without significant work.
$1400 seems too high for a factory-like cloth replacement you could nearly replace with a whole new OEM panel for that. I paid about $600 for a black anthracite headliner on mine. Keep in mind, the folks that might balk at the costs are probably misremembering the cost without adjusting for 2022 inflation. I've seen that in some older threads. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1376522 Last edited by Cmassey3; 12-03-2022 at 09:12 AM.. |

I'm 2 hours north, Jacksonville. That's a great deal, I'm just looking for the same or similar material to OEM

I just had mine redone last month in SC for $400 including pillars. It was also a reputable mobile headliner company like the other person mentioned. They came to my work and 2 guys knocked it out in a couple hours

No buttons on the fabric, but I know what you mean. 14 years of South Carolina hot summers and a black roof have now given me the hoopdee interior look.

I could not find anyone local in Charleston that would take on headliners for some reason so I reached out to them and had an appointment within a few weeks. |

My theory is the black carbon roof gets extremely HOT when parked outside all day in the South Carolina summer sunshine, heat and humidity (90F to 100F). Then the roof (head) liner card and foam also heat up and over time the fabric bond (glue) between the two disintegrates. Oh, and also because I don't live in Scandinavia..

My theory is the e9x platform uses terrible adhesive that breaks down over time and unless you have a garaged car that’s driven very little it’s not a matter of if but when it happens.
If anyone knows a reasonable shop in north Alabama I need mine replaced. My plan is to remove the headliner myself and take it to a shop to save some on labor. Looks like a pita to remove but I’d gladly pay $500 or less if there was one of those mobile services available. I’d love to replace it with suede/alcantara. |

If anyone in the Mid-Atlantic area is looking for a place, AceBeezy seemed to have great luck with Rankin Upholstery in Gaithersburg, MD:
