Another thing to think about for those considering the c63 cars is the cost to own. I'm sure many have the dough to pay for it, but the maintenance costs are ridiculous. I was just getting an oil change at Turner motorsports and there was a CLK63 on the lot. A tech told me that brake pads are $700/axle! Imagine what it costs to keep that vehicle going. No thanks.

A friend of mine just bought an '09 C63 AMG. He spent the past year agonizing over the decision M3, C63, CTS-V? It all boiled down to the test drive! What tipped him towards the C63 was the intoxicating exhaust note, the heavily bolstered racing front seats, all the standard equipment & $15,000 off window sticker. There's nothing like a test drive to tell you which car is FOR YOU. See, for me, the seats alone in the C63 would dis-qualify it - simply put...I DON'T FIT!

The only reason why i'm interested in getting your opionions because I want to get a V8. I believe that going forward, a V8 would be a gem since most cars will be a pos with smaller engines..thanks to the gov.

thanks for helping me.
Boss if you are looking for a sedan get the C63 AMG. However, I will admit I love the iDrive system in the BMW. It is past Mercedes by far.

Looks wise everyone knows the Merc looks way better. Seats too the C63 AMG feels nice.

The only thing that ruined it for me for the C63 was that it only came in auto... A MT is just much more fun to drive and mod.

The E90 M3 automatic is 10K$ more here too. The 3900$ dual clutch transmisssion is too expensive... it doesn't deliver.... 0.2s slower than a manual. A ZF 6HP 335i is 0.1s slower than a manual. Of course, the turbo helps to maintain momentum but the whole thing about Drivelogic is flawed (except for launch control) and not supported with numbers... a larger 6HP28 500lbs-ft for 2K$ less should have done the trick with no loss.

However I have a problem with the C-Class feminine styling and would consider a CTS-V with a massive rebate.

The C63 is too blingy/shiny. That is the only problem I have with it.

Sums it out perfectly - love the bit when they try and hit the apple on the apex of the corner + the lap times..

Both great cars- money is relative and it seems that if they were the same price you would be in an M. So you have to weigh out the loss of having what you really want versus the extra 10k. Is your intent to keep the car for a long period of time? If so, then you should forgo the savings and get the car that you want versus the one that will make your pocketbook heavier. It also depends on your needs and expectations of a car.

I could have got the C63 and saved 13k off MSRP with the 7500 factory to dealer money plus invoice or better pricing but for me- the savings would not make up the pleasure of ownership which I have with the M3.

Does money outweigh the passion of ownership/driveability/involvement? Do you need a high rev'ing driver car or that stoplight mash and go killer. Thats a question you need to answer. Maybe to you the C63 is every bit of a car that the M3 is, if so then you have your answer. Get the Merc and save the cash.

Has Benz fixed their miserable repair rates yet? Last I knew MB was not a reliable car.

But then again, the C63 can barely use all of its power in stock form. I can only imagine what it will be like with the extra HP. The M3 is a well balanced machine; the C63 is a beast that cannot be contained...LOL.

I'm thinking you will need to replace tires on a C63 more frequently than you would on the M3.

However, the C63 is really nice and aggresive.

the problem here is the c63 look doesn't impress me. maybe c63 vs m3 sedan is more close, but compare it to the coupe or vert, huge differences in term of look.

I replaced the rears with Michelin PS2 and I have no traction issues even under aggressive acceleration.

I agree I was on my third set of rears after 1 year of ownership 15K+ miles on the clock.

No the first 2 sets of rears were the stock OEM Pirelli PZERO's. The third set I changed all 4 tires to Michelin PS2's and went 265 in the rear instead 255.

You almost described me (see the quote in my sig). I love the exterior styling and seats of the 4-door M3, but, what sold me in the end on the C63 was the straight-line performance, exhaust note, and almost $14k off MSRP. My C63 will probably never see a road course, but it sure gives me big grins from stoplight-to-stoplight.

Here is my C63. You either love or hate the styling since it is very subjective. The car has 19" KLEEMANN MS-11S 8.5 fronts and 10.0 rears with KLEEMANN K1 tune.
