I don't see how the e9x looks "dated". It has a timeless body shape like (maybe not as much, maybe the same...) the E46. Cant really go wrong with how an e9x M3 looks - even ten years from now as long as the maintenance is done for the paint and there aren't dents all over the body

the ZCP helps a lot IMO. give the M3 a much more appealing presence on the road. those rims stand out, and look really nice.

I remember the first time I heard the sound of the F8x. I was working in a hotel room between Regensburg and Munich and BMW had a conference on the same hotel. The balcony door was open and I heard an old engine starting. I thought it was an old Golf Mk2 with 3" exhaust, but I had to see what car it was.
To my great disappointment, it was the new M3 starting up. Even my colleague, who has a background within racing also thought it was an old banger. This is a true story and as you might assume, I would never change my E92 for a F8x. In my opinion, the F8x does not have the same soul, character and dedication for petrol heads as the E92. It feels like an attempt to increase the clientele, but is that really what M is for? |

yea i agree. shit even the e46 exterior to me looks awesome and not dated at all, and i feel the same about the e92, even tho i think the f80 looks good too but due to the engine id rather keep my e92

Absolutely no regret here, I was at the eas dyno day this past weekend, and saw a bunch of f8x m3/4 there and i do think they look good especially M3 this time around but too me, the overall design of the E9X is still more beautiful if not more aggressive. I also don't think it looks dated at all. This is my 2nd E92, and i bought this car right before the new F8x hit the US dealerships despite seeing countless of the pics how the new car looks like. I guess once you own a V8 M3, is hard to go for a 6 cyl M3. I kinda understand why turbo was needed on the new gen. Oh btw, i did test drive one and was not sold as what happened with the e9x.

You have a real M3. Enjoy it. I waited for the M4 and then bought an e92!

I had an E92 M3. I used it as my only car. It's a great car. I was never interested in the F8x - I just did not feel it.
So - I got myself a Jaguar F-Type V8 S. I was sure I was going to get a Porsche 911. I drove them back to back and the sheer drama of the F-Type V8 S got me to buy it. The Porsche was a better car - but the drama of the F-Type won! So - the M4 was never on the radar for me. I had a Z4M Coupe as well as Roadster followed by the E92 M3. Sadly, the M division does not interest me anymore. I even tried the X5M and instead chose the Range Rover Sport Supercharged as my hunting / off road / winter car. |

Once a sexy car, always a sexy car. e9x and e46's clean lines have aged well. I think they'll age better than the f8x's busier look. I don't mind having a classic looking car...not that the e9x is an old bugger yet. Still looks fresh to me.

F80 is ugly with those Japanese looking headlights that run into the grille.
e9x M3 will be a car that is spoken about for years to come along with the E60 M5 I have a 2011 E90 and a Toyota Camry( my first car) and my next hunt is an E60 M5 for driving pleasure. Eff newness, I like rarity and uniqueness not dumbing down things to appeal to the masses. On another note I honestly feel like BMW is making too many damn cars and having too many options I hate the idea of a 1M/ M2/ M3/M4/M6 or whatever else they now have I feel Like m3/m5/m6 with sedan, coupe and convertible options would have and should have been enough. After the E60 and E90 i almost now feel Like ///M is becoming nothing more than a damn trim option rather than a division separate an apart from the regular production cars |

Agree with everything said above. No regrets regarding my 2013 E92 M3. I test drove the M4 and was underwhelmed. I still enjoy the burble of my V8 and I do think the E9X lines are just more sexy compared to the newer models. Curves on a sports car are more classy and beautiful to my eye than robotic appearing rough and funky angles.

I have a 2013, lease is up in 10 months. 8000 miles right now. Tint, tune, coded, lux, mpe, edition parts, dinan intake. Did a day at performance center hoping to be blown away, new M 3/4 is awesome in it own way. Loved the suspension, tight. M cars are amazing, all gens. This car is special. Looks like I will be buying my used car. Whatever M car you have...enjoy!!

Disagree about the car looking dated, but if that's how you feel, go ahead and sell it. I think it looks worlds better than the squat, blunt new cars, but I also think the E46 is among the top 3 BMW designs, so maybe I like cars with more classic lines rather than half a dozen try-hard flaps.
