Track Day at Mount Panorama Bathurst
If you bought your M3 to take pretty pictures you should probably skip to the next thread.....
I found this the other day and thought to myself, hmmmmm. I've turned a few laps around the Mount on iRacing but nothing would compare to the real thing. Would anyone consider doing this? http://www.challengebathurst.com/thunder There are two event types. A sprint (called Lightning) and a training/track day (called Thunder). Challenge Bathurst - Thunder is a two day event including 120 driving minutes on the Mountain. Six 20 minute sprint sessions [in 5 groups]. One Familiarization, five Practice sessions. Regularity with minimum lap time of 2 minutes and 36 seconds. Grid Capacity 55 cars. Event Fees [incl. GST] $1,590 entry fee per vehicle [includes $100 fuel credit]. Option of 1 or 2 driver pairing for the same low fee. |

Yeah..... and with each lap at say 3-4 mins (depending on the size of ones testicles) you'll probably get 4 "hot laps" (not including the out and in laps). That's 24 Hot Laps across the weekend.
That said, it's the Mountain. It's a Bucket List thing. What price can you put on driving the Mountain in anger? Driving across Skyline and down into the Dipper...... I think SMSP has elevation changes.... ha! I'd probably soil my pants on the first Hot Lap! And if its raining, we might need a defibrillator. |

It's tempting to trailer my car down, but just a bit too much to justify. I'm out on this one, but look forward to hearing about it from you locals |
