ZCP Vs poor regular M3!!
You know what, I own a poor old 2011 M3 without ZCP and I'm a little frustrated how people talk about (M3 with ZCP) as a whole different animal. There is a thread here naming M3ZCP one of the “car of the year” like regular M3 became a Honda Civic out of a sudden. I had the opportunity to purchase mine with ZCP but I couldn’t justify the price difference for what it does. It’s not like ZCP adds 50 HPs to M3. With all due respect to all the ZCP owners, I don’t see the need to keep introducing our cars as ZCP or non ZCP I think a 2011 M3 should say enough. How the wheels look is such a superficial issue yet more than 30 threads addressed ZCP wheels. I don’t understand how the looks does anything to functionality since I have the same 19” wheels as well. I know ZCP is more than just the wheels look but if you read the threads talking about ZCP you will read more about the wheels than performance.
Anyone out there drove both for good amount of time to shed some light on this vehicular discrimination!!!

i didn't get ZCP because i got aftermarket wheels and a drop. As far as the "reprogrammed" EDC, my CA said no one would noticed the difference if they didn't know... Don't sweet it, some people just like to think their car is better cause they paid more money for that option

I converted my 2009 non-ZCP Honda Civic M3 into a car of the year ZCP over the summer (pictures in my signature). The difference in handling is perceptible, though barely, but the delta in styling is more than subtle. So sleep soundly knowing you made the purchasing decision that suited your financial situation. That said, your post still deserves one of these:

I only got ZCP because i like the look of the wheels and dont plan on doing aftermarket...The other point that sold me was that it comes slightly lowered...i know its not much, but good enough for me...I did alot of modding in the past and got tempted to do it again with the M but because of all the issues in the past with aftermarket shit....i decided not to mod the M....so when i found out it came slightly lowered, i was sold...cuz theres no way i would put an aftermarket suspension in this car like i did with my last 2...squeaks, rattles, all the bullshit....just made me feel a little better about the purchase cuz i didnt have to do shit...

i really dont think so...i dont think it makes it that much of a better car....but ive never driven a non-zcp to really compare and note the differemce...all the dealer models i tested were zcp to begin with...so im not the expert to say....i just feel satisfaction in my heart that is it factory lowered and warrantied!

for me it sounds more like saying "White M3 with nice looking wheels won the title" too bad the red ones couldn't!!

I saw a ZCP leave a base M3 civic in the dust yesterday.

I got a Non-ZCP because I prefer the forged 220M wheels.
I also like the ZCP (359M) wheels, but only in black. Some say I could have gotten the ZCP and sold the wheels - yes, but the 220M wheels are much more expensive than the ZCP wheels. I have driven both cars (ZCP was even on a track), and I can't tell the difference. However, I do sometimes get irritated by some that think the ZCP is an ECU upgrade and adds 50hp

Bad info! -> The ZCP M3 has the same brakes and weighs the same as the Non-ZCP M3

The competition package is considered as a "performance" update to the M3. Magazines compare and review cars that get updated. The same thing would have happened if the 2011 M3 received a 5hp increase with a free-flowing exhaust. Not sure what the big deal is. If there was no ZCP, there'd be no 2011 reviews.

I think there must be differences. Some people can feel them but the vast majority cannot (witness how small the percentage of M3's that ever see a racetrack).
For instance, when I was running 12mm spacers on my Civic standard M3, I noticed a perceptible increase in grip out of tight corners. The car wasn't as progressive however and some pothole shocks were harsher, so I ended up going back to stock. Based on my limited experience, I can see how increasing track & decreasing height would necessitate recalibrated electronics (EDC and probably DSC). The M3 is pretty sensitive to small changes. I think if I would do it again I'd get the ZCP option, sell the rims and get OEM gunmetal 18" (better for daily driving and cheaper, more plentiful tire choices).

Well, that just adds weight to the car and makes it sluggish. Look at my M3 0-60 in 3 minutes

If they didnt do 'something' then the magazines and testers would have nothing to rave about, hard to stay excited about a 3 year old performance car if nothing changes no matter how great it is. Just like the GT500 mustangs, they went to an aluminum block and some other small changes in 2011 and now the 2010 GT500s (which got great reviews) are the civics lol. I'm sure the ZCP has better performance, how much of a difference it makes in the real world for regular drivers who knows. |

For the person who knows what ZCP is, its better than standard M3. Weather you can notice the difference or not. Hell, if i didnt order ZCP then i probably would have got the sunroof instead of the carbon-fiber roof.

I has teh ZCP M3. All u non ZCP owners should just hang urselfs...
All retardedness aside, the comp pckg also adds to resale value or more appeal to a private sale. Even though I changed everything the ZCP offers (wheels, suspension, ECU) the stealership will give me more value when I eventually trade up to the next gen M3. After I return it to stock of course. |
