Does anyone here live in Sasakatoon Canada?

Im moving to Saskatoon in few months, probably december or january
and probably gonna be living near the U of S.
I was wondering how the winter is up there if anyone knows
would the general winter setup work?
Thanks in advance

Ha...good luck in stoon! I used to live there a few years back....and moving from Vancouver, youre going to notice a considerable change in weather!
The cold is ridiculous (can get to -50C without wind), and they get dumped with snow. I didnt own a car when I was there, but I dont see how anyone can drive an M3 through a Saskatoon winter.
My suggestion...park the car and take the bus over the winter, or better yet, dont move to Saskatoon!

I second this. I spent 8 years in Edmonton (similar climate), and I wouldn't want to drive an M3 (or any nice sports car) there in winter. I did once see somebody driving a GT-R in the winter, so it is possible if you can't avoid driving your M3.

Psh, M3 + winter tires is a tank through the snow. Driving in near freezing temperatures does require weekly washing though, and the car doesn't appreciate temperatures below -20. Last year we managed to avoid the 3 week period of sustained -25 temperatures. That was nice.

If it's in the budget, why don't you invest in a cheap beater?

I had 265/19 winter tires all around and the car drove better than my wife's mazda3 with winters.

If you are truly going to drive it every day, I'd invest in an oil pan heater and possibly a battery heating blanket (if it fits). Those who say -50C all the time are also full of shit. The absolute coldest it has been around my hood in the last few years has been -40 (and we were the 2nd coldest location in the world that night). Typical extreme low temperatures in Edmonton are -25 to -35 at night, and probably higher in Saskatoon. If you have an attached garage, you'll be fine. Cheap winter beater isn't a bad option though - you can probably pick one up for the price of a set of winter tires.

Having lived in Saskatoon from '95 to '99 for university and having driven an LSD'd 1986 "327i", I don't think I'd risk an M3 there. As confirmed above, the snow removal continues to be sub-standard.

Personally I'd look at a used Subaru for booting around Saskatoon.

Damn fellas I didn't know Saskatoon was that bad!! OP, don't be put off by the comments though, I moved from the UK to Calgary and imagine not knowing WTF winter tires are, now that's when you know you are f*cked. Good thing the M is a beast and I didn't have a problem last year with 18's and 235/40/18 tires.
