One of the worst mods i've ever seen done to a M3. You should be ashamed.

Three things:
1. Are they not installed in the felt that is on all our cars already? Not any lower than it already comes.
2. If he gets some Lux or other aftermarket led for the AE, it would probably flow better as the color would be a bit more "appealing". He is invested now, hole in felt and switch.
3. Not my thing at all, but at least he tried something different. (Yes, they are DRLs not fogs also)

They sell led light strips now u can just stick onto your existing headlight housing for an easy install. My neighbor has them on his Camry and sequoia. Might as well, op is halfway there already.

Throw a couple of these in the mix, a wide body kit and you'll be in business!

Sorry not for me. A small reason I still choose BMWs is they haven't fitted LED running lights like Audi, Merc, Porsche, Range Rover etc which are not at all to my taste.

These lights are installed inside the felt box with only the lens through the front wall. Then sealed with black silicone. I needed a very slim profile to fit in the available space. Few light options were available. And they do perform well as fog lights by illuminating the fog line and the immediate roadside environment.
Unlike all to many American drivers, I only use fog lights when the conditions warrant.
For me it's function over form.

Seriously though... IMHO...your stock HID's are bright enough to the point where these LED lights will not add to what you see with your current stock lights at all. (driver's view while driving) I might be wrong... but either way, You might want to reconsider this mod... it really downgrades the look of the car

just curious/a thought, I like how the cornering light lights up the immediate area infront and to the left/right of the car and think it's useful in foggy condition. Anyone toyed with the idea of modifying/using the cornering light to use as fog light? Stupid idea?

I started the project by following the DIY for activating the rear fog lights and went ahead and enabled the front switch as well. I then installed the new lights in the "felt boxes". They are easy access by removing a few screws and then popping out. To complete the wiring I took the car to Car Toys in Portland, OR. They informed me that the factory front fog switch componets are incomplete internally so they installed the aftermarket switch that you see on the left of the main switch.
The system works great. Just respect curbs!
You should have bought an Audi if you wanted LED DRL's

Honestly though, it is definitely not my thing, but if you find them effective and you like them, good job!...... At least you put some effort into trying to do a clean install!!!
