TE37SL's and the rusty hub issue...

You know this:

Got sick of looking at it so I sanded down all of the rust, masked everything except for the inner hub and the front edge of the lip and sprayed a few coats of brake caliper paint.

The result:

The simple yet very time consuming solution. I think it looks pretty good.

You do know they make center caps for the sl wheel to sit flush right? It's a small piece you snap in and done. Much cleaner. I did what you did here on my old NSX. Looks good but now that you can run centercaps on sl's, why not go that route? It's just a piece so you can run caps.

Looks great! I would also consider centre caps..but I'm always worried about someone stealing my $200 centre caps

Since he tracks his car often, I don't believe they let you have center caps incase it flies off.

I don't think you are correct on this one... The regular TE37's have a notch in the center bore area to accept the center cap. SL's do not.

Actually, there is an adapter you can get that allows the SL to accept Volk centre caps.

OP, you did an excellent job cleaning up the hub, your car looks fantastic!

1 - The adapter looks like crap IMO

2 - It doesn't result in a flush cap like HK suggested (I think he was referring to the cap you can install on the regular TE37).

As an alternative, I use Boashield. A rust inhibitor on my my hubs.

We did this over 10 years ago on the NSX platform. Nothing really new and very easy. My first run through was in 2001.

It does make a huge difference.
