I have the BW backing plates, that's an easy solve, but don't know what my hose routing options are with the dct cooler blocking the duct

Grabbing these, https://www.bimmerworld.com/E9X-M3-a...ates-Pair.html and some hose from Pegasus, but need to sort out what to do on the passenger side.
I can text you pics of my setup, uses OEM backing plates with 2.5" flanges and brake ducting from GT4 lip but could easily pull air from naca ducts mounted to your undertray.

Under $100 all-in and provides the same functionality as any solution out there (unless you go with a $1k+ BMW motorsport design).

My E92 pulls air from the splitter but on my F80 I built ducting that pulled air from the undertray (pictured). The brakes held up fine with OEM calipers + Endless pads/GiroDisc rotors on a pretty heavy car.

The F80 ran 1:56 laps at BW for reference so not super slow... Seemed to keep the temps in check better than the subjective reviews I had heard from others with OEM brakes so I'll just assume they worked haha.

It looks like that hose is blowing air on the rotor face, is that correct?

F80 is lighter than the E90 and you're running a nicely upgraded rotor. Based on my own research the design of your backing plate ducts isn't doing much. Of course it's functioning well as a system, but I doubt you'd see a ton of difference in surface temps on the front and back of rotor compared to no ducting on your setup.

slcook54 What about something like this: https://shop.katechengines.com/produ...ling-duct-kit/ and just run them on track and not on the street?

Have you seen testing on the correlation between airflow and brake cooling on an E92 / F80? I'd love to see what others have done to try and improve, I'm eating up brake pads pretty quickly.

The naca duct on the F80 was angled at ~30* to increase airflow almost like a direct opening (similar to the Katech design) but I have no data to confirm functionality on the F80. A flatter longer direct opening would have collected more air but it ends up in the same location as most of the systems on the market (central vanes of rotor). The biggest issue is that those tend to get ripped off by berms/curbing on track. Definitely not worth $700 unless the backing plate better seals air entry into the vanes IMO.

Maybe try the GT3 cooling duct that mounts to the control arm? They're like $20.

Don't have to buy the GT4 ones, but if you still have your felts this is a nice solution too.

It looks that way but it's mounted with over 2" of the 2.5" duct exit directed into the vanes. I'll take some pics of my E92, I flattened the backing plate and used different flanges this time so that less air escapes and the duct exits 100% into the rotor vanes.

someone needs to make a cool duct to the fenderliner

Maybe utilize their pancake ducts:

Backing plates and hoses are easy to come by for the E9x chassis, whats not readily available is the intake portion of the system, other than a GT4 lip.

Utilizing the factory felt peices would work, but you'd be replacing that setup all the time if you track the car. Those things get ripped off all the time, plus the felt peices are blocked from airflow if you have a front lip and/or splitter.

It would be great of there was a chassis mounted lip/splitter with brake duct intakes.

Those pancake ducts and/or < 3" ducting are the way to go unless you like replacing hoses every 2 track days, I went with 2.5" hoses and they seem to be holding up without much wear.

I had fabulous time at WGI.
for three days.
but I can't do more than two laps on pace before the coolant get to 242 and oil is running into 290s

I am supercharged and on full do88 set.
I did not have DCT issues but temp did go above 210.

I was able to manage temps by shifting at 7000 but the glorious power and noise between 7000-8200 was missed dearly.

What else can I try?

Not looking to be told to remove the supercharger.
My student had 2012 E90 and I can do the same not exceeding 7000rpm and not overheating.

Perhaps it is what it is, but looking to see if anyone working on something or knowing something about cooling

I noticed my oil temp dropped from 270ish to high 250's running 100 octane in my sc'd m3 on track at a hotter part of the day too. Ambient was in the low 100's.
