Bought my dream car, maintenance ?'s
I know everyone hates the e93, but I love the thing. I have had it for about 3 weeks so far, I believe those are m5 rims on there. I absolutely love my midlife crisis car.
Changed diff fluid with factory stuff, changed 6mt trans fluid with redline d4 atf(honestly shifts noticeably better, probably had old factory fluid in there), changed air filter to bmc drop in, changed spark plugs, took about 15 times longer than my old accord, but I found some oil on the threads of a few plugs. So assume the valve cover gasket....just curious if that sounds correct and possibly how much that's going to cost. I'm scheduled for the rod bearings being replace in the next two weeks. I hope once this is all done I will be good for awhile. 2.5 pipe exhaust mod next!!! Also, any recommendations to get rid of the front license plate holes that were drilled in the bumper? Thank you for your time. Last edited by Abefroman55; 11-07-2017 at 01:19 PM.. |

Looking good and welcome.
Fellow e93'er here. The vert is awesome and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Sure it's heavier, but not many cars can deliver the same (top down) experience. Best of luck. Sounds like you're getting it sorted correctly right away. |

Congrats on achieving one of your dreams. Car looks great, but I'd slap some ZCP wheels on there =)

Are those M4 Non-ZCP wheels?

I ordered bumper plugs from these guys for my X5 - https://www.bumperplugs.com
Paintwork was top notch but you'll need to drill even bigger holes to install them. I couldn't bring myself to do that in case I ever wanted to mount the plate in the same holes again. |

Congrats OP! It's a wonderful car!
No need to worry about the oil on the threads, it's completely normal. If you have oil on the coil then that means your valve cover seal is on the way out It's a very reliable car. The common 'oh no' failure is rod bearings, then you have throttle bodies which die every now but those just give you a CEL By the way, I agree that you should ignore the naysayers. People are quick to say the E93 is a fat pig yet think the C63 is fine, but it weighs the same. I'll take an open top plus the glorious S65 any day of the week! |

Congratulations on your car. I have the same E93 in Silverstone, and like others have said, don't let that be a distraction. Regardless of our cars being heavier, I drive mine because I enjoy the drive, and add to it with an open top: win win. The truth is that these cars are fun to drive, and the open top makes it that much more so. Enjoy!

2013 Silverstone E93 here, and love it.
Having owned an F82, I spent plenty of time on a track. But this E93 never needs to see a track for me to enjoy the hell out of it. Sunny day, top down, exhaust and engine noise coupled with my favorite tunes....it's an epic experience. We're lucky people indeed. |

Congrats! Love 'em!
I do find it funny when people rag on the E93's for their added weight. Are you guys really trying to shave a tenth on your way to Dairy Queen? Absolute epic Sunday driver. This question is coming from a slicktop E90 guy, so take it for what it's worth... |

I have over 100,000 miles on my 2008 and so far it has been relatively trouble free. The only thing that has actually broken has been the cheap switch cover for the electronic damper control on the center console. I need to replace the entire 3 button unit, since you cannot simply purchase replacement tabs for each switch. It's under $200, which is high for such a simple piece, but not outrageous.

Cool car man. Make sure to put a lot of thought into your exhaust mod. There are many combinations: Muffler mod, test pipe, X-Pipe. Of all of them the one you have chosen doesn't free up any lost HP. It's definitely a bit louder but adds zero to the M3's performance. Welcome to the club.

Everyone doesn't hate the E93, just a vocal minority that wants to believe that their luxury GT car should be used as a track car. Yes, it's about 400 lbs heavier than an E92, but the truth is that the coupe is kind of a pig in its own right at 3700 lbs. You'll notice the extra 6-700 lbs of the E92 over something like a 911 base/S on the track more than I'll notice the extra weight of the E93 while out on a Sunday drive with my family.

In most normal driving situations none of this makes much diference at all, but there is a difference. Whether or not it matters to you is for each person to decide. |

Congrats on the E93, she's a beauty!
The previous owner of my car already had color matched BUMPER PLUGS installed and I don't even see them when I look at my car anymore. [IMG]IMG_9224 by [/IMG] I think you'll like the "2.5 OEM Exhaust mod" it's just the right volume. Depending on where you live, a muffler shop should do it for around $200. I showed the mechanic a YouTube DIY and that's all he needed!

Congrats and welcome. Beautiful vert!
I started young w/RWD sports cars so that I wouldn't have to have an actual midlife crisis, but having just picked up my E92 in May, I'll say it's a great midlife crisis anyway. Enjoy!
