Who kind of person is the M3 tailored towards?
There has been a lot of GT-R talk as of late, so I wanted to get some opinions, and hopefully clear the air. Let's get started.
What type of person is the M3 tailored towards? What type of person is the GT-R tailored towards? What kind of person buys an M3?(Think: What is a person thinking or wanting from a car, when they buy a M3) What kind of person buys a GT-R?(Think: What is a person thinking or wanting from a car when they buy a GT-R?) How are these two groups different? |

To be really honest I have to say the m3 is a bit young feeling for me and will definetly be moving on to the m5 or m6 next time. I think the m3 is for a couple types.
1.People that buy it for a track tool and want a track car that they can drive because they cannot really afford a nice DD and a car like the m3 for the track. 2.Kids, teens and boy racers 3.Guys that want a sports car but are on a someone limited budget. I had always wanted an m3 and am probably living out a more childhood dream but I feel too old compared to people who drive by in M5's, M6's, jag's, E class AMG's etc etc. Just feel too many rich teens have given the m3 a little bit of a bad image for boy racer. I love the car but do not think you can shake the immature image of the car. |

I owned an E39 M5 when I was in my 50's after an E36 M3 and 2-E46 M3's...the M5 definitely felt like an old person's car. The ride was like a Buick. I ran it on the track once and the brakes faded badly and the car threw a bunch of fault codes and went into "limp" mode. I sold it after 6 months and 4K miles and bought another E46 M3. Now in my 60's, I'm back with the "Boy Racer" E92 M3. Life is too short to drive an M5/M6. If you must drive an M5/M6, save the money and just buy a Buick. For me, and with help from Viagra, I'm still too young to go into "limp" mode yet. I'll stick with M3's. |

I know a lot of people from this board and in reality that mod the sh*t out of their M3's and then move onto a P-car or F-car. Tell those idiots that they can't afford two cars. LOL. |

Whenever I see another M3 on the road, it's usually someone in their 40-50's. When I go to car meets/driving events, they are usually in the 20-30's.

There are plenty of idiots in pretty much every performance car out there. With that logic, there no reason to buy anything nice.
I think the M3 appeals to those who want a sporty car but don't want to give up on luxories and creature comforts. All being said, we can get cars that are plenty faster for plenty cheaper. The M3 is no P-car, but it's a heck of a lot more practical for those of us who actually care about that. There's always the M5/6 as well, but I think those appeal to a more conservative demographic than the M3. Personally, I cannot see myself in a 5/6-series any time soon... I just doesn't seem to be who I am or reflect how I old I feel. It's not always about price. It's also about fit. All things being equal I can't see myself in a Mustang any more than I could see me in a M5... it's not who I am. The M3, though... it's only been a few days, but it feels quite nice so far! |

@ OP its kind of funny that for some one who didnt stick to their guns about ever getting a 2012 M3 and spent countless post always playing devils advocate trying to find something wrong with the M3, oh and now your sig stating that you have a C63, you sure spend alot of time on these boards. Honeslty from all your old post I wouldnt even doubt it if A-team is just another profile created by you in an attempt to Troll.
Sorry but had to call you out after remembering all of your post for the past few months.

2. I am not a kid, teen, or a boy racer. 3. I did want a sports car, but I am not limited in my budget. The OP asked what the forum thought the M3 was tailored towards, much as certain adverts are tailored towards a specific demographic. Your TROLL posting was trollish by every definition of the word. It was off-topic; no one asked about your opinion of a stereotype. It was inflammatory; posted only to exact an emotional response. Since you drive the very car on-topic, which one of the demographics you demonstrated do you belong to? I, for one, hope you do move up to a M5 or M6. You might feel more comfortable on those forums. |

Back on topic.... I would say that an M3 driver is someone who wants the best all around sports car. Now I know that the M3 is not a sports car in a traditional sense of the word but it does preform like one.
I bought the M3 because I wanted a car with a history, that was respected, that could give me enough power to have some fun and take it to the track; all while still being civil enough to chauffeur my 7 year old daughter around. I wanted all this without having to give up a luxurious sense of feel and all my favorite technology. It was not my intent to buy the fastest car in the world but it was my intent to buy one of the best drivers cars in the world. I do not consider the M3 a "boy racer" kind of car. That term makes me think of spiky haired kids in modded Evos and STIs. I would like to think that M3 drivers are usually more successful and have a little more refined taste then just going after HP numbers.
