Day running lights

OK< so I realized that my lights are not on during the day. No day running lights. However, I have now seen a few M3's on the road and they appear to have the day running lights on. How do I make my car have the day running lights on without having to turn the lights on manually.

Thanks!

Yeah, I read the manual. Guess you can delete this.

Wonder why my dealer never activated this for me. I feel it is much safer to have them on and I like the look.

I would delete this thread myself if I could.

Sorry.

It should be automatically on...switch the switch to auto-mode.

If you have the I-drive, you actually have to setup the DRL to be on.

Both previous two posts are right. You enable it first with iDrive. Then turn the light switch to auto. You can just leave it in auto and the lights will be off with car, DRL during day and normal headlights at night.

Without iDrive you still need to turn on the DRLs it's one of the computer settings you can change in the car. It has nothing to do with the Auto setting on the headlight switch.

You are correct. I have a non IDrive M3 and the DRL needs to be activated through the stalk that accesses the cars functions.

OK. If you don't have iDrive you enable it through the board computer (do they still call it that?) with the turn signal stalk. But then you must still turn the light switch to the auto position. So says the manual.

Oops check that. DRLs come on at light switch positions 0 (off), 1 (park lights) and 3 (auto).
