.Lindsay. tried to PM me, but my inbox was full. I can definitely provide the stats, but I highly doubt that the insurance company will take my word for it and I know that BMW does not provide these types of stats officially.

The production stats for your combination would be

pre-LIC

AW on Fox Red with 6MT - 184 in the US. 145 of them got CF roof.

LCI

AW on Fox Red with 6MT - 116 in the US. 93 of them got CF roof.

You da bomb!

Just so I understand, how did you come up with your complete list? I'm curious if there's any way to provide proof in situations like this or trying to list a car for sale that's a "one of one."

I scraped all E9x M3 build sheets, put them in a database and here we are.

Would it be possible to email me whatever spreadsheet/database you have? I question whether it would help my case and/or whether insurance would accept it but it's worth trying! My email is Lindsaywilson00 at yahoo dot com

I don't really share raw data and it's stored in a quite large database that requires SQL knowledge to operate. I have an idea what you can do that might work out. I'll PM it you.

It's a total black box -- so it's hard to say. They could be backed up with other claims, there could be internal disagreements, their counsel might be getting involved, who knows.

If you had to hand over a check for tens of thousands of dollars to a random person for something a customer of yours did, would you be working overtime and rushing to get it done? Probably not.

Just a little update for anyone that cares. Settled with insurance for what I feel was a fair price (plus whatever amount I'll get as a separate check for the aftermarket parts). I was contemplating bidding on it at auction to then part out but unfortunately was out of town in and in an area with spotty cell service on the day of the auction so joining in on the live auction via online bidding wasn't feasible. I was able to check the bidding 3 times though, the second time it was up to $6,050 and by the time I checked the third time the auction had ended and it didn't show the final sale price.

With that said, I just found it posted on craigslist as a part out. If anyone is interested in specific parts, feel free to PM me and I can tell you condition of whatever it is since the seller won't have any knowledge or history. Link to CL ad: https://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/p...679258700.html

Sorry about your car.

Is that an OEM shifter/knob? Hard to tell from the pic.

Would love to see jiggz and UPSROD give an opinion.
For an insurance payout he would do well to get 22-23k.

I do agree that you don't want to take their first offer. I'd head to the doctor, as well. I was in a virtually identical situation years ago (stopped on highway, rear-ended by kid in 3/4-ton pickup going 55mph) and I ended up getting about $15k more than the initial offer, mostly by not being in a hurry to sign the settlement offer.
This.

And remember, depending on the insurance company, most situations are totally negotiable. I would imagine you are not going to attempt to buy it back so I am not certain how much negotiating there will need to be. Take your time in the process, unless you are in a hurry for a check, they are not in a hurry to write you one. Good luck, Glad you are ok. OMG M3 RIP
