Maybe a dumb question, but would a Stage 2 tune be too aggressive with a catted x-pipe like the aFe below? I know a catless is better for power, but I don't want the headache of a CEL or putting more pollutants in the air. Is it reasonable to expect 30ish horsepower from a Stage 2 tune with this x-pipe?

The burbles will only work properly with catless exhaust. If you have the car at over 6000 RPM, and then let off the gas, they will come on very strong. What a fantastic tune!

I recently switched back to regular stage 2 from the burbles. While the burbles provide entertainment, the regular stage 2 drives significantly better. This is especially apparent under load prior to the DCT downshifting or if you don't want to downshift yourself. You can feel the car bogging down before it picks up again.

This isn't a dig at Alex, but an observation given how the burbles are done for port injected cars. I'm sure its the same for any other burbles vs regular stage 2 tune.

Shouldn't be any driving differences between regular burbles & non burble map.

The only possible differences is if your burble map was an older map and your non-burble map is newer. Your cars exhaust system was too restrictive for burbles or your driving habits changed to hear more burbles/make it burble.

Burbles only activate on release of throttle/deceleration. Otherwise the map is identical to a regular stage 2.

On throttle/WOT, the two are identical to me. I noticed the bogging when going from cruising/no load/decel then trying to get into the throttle immediately to merge on highway or pass someone.

Not sure on the revision of the map, but I got both at the same time and same setup for both maps.

You probably aren't straight pipped all the way like the instructions state to be for burbles.

That could be the case as I'm running a CPE muffler for the 1M so it does have a bend in the pipe; otherwise I'm running a ACM test pipes, 2 AR25 resonators and no X in my exhaust; merges into a Y by the catback.

Like I said though; no knock against your tune and the back and forth was not my intention; I still recommend it! I enjoyed your Stg 1 and the Stg 2 has been working great.

Ok gays, I'm thinking of adding test pipes to my car, I'm not really interested in tunning it to be honest, just looking for the extra sound and I read I need a tuner to erase the cel and was wondering what is the cheapest way to go for a tune just for that purpose if there is one, is that the only way to go about this. Don't really want to spend hundreds just to delete a cel.

Thanks.

Wrong thread, this thread is specific to the Alpine Motorsports tune.

Might as well spend the time answering the question rather than telling him you are not going to help. It would have taken you the same amount of time.

Try to find a used akra delete-r. It will delete the cel but not affect readiness so you may not pass inspection.

I didn't answer it directly for a couple reasons. There is no good and cheap solution he's looking for out there other than keeping the car stock or catless with no tune. Akra-r spam deletes all engine codes, meaning if you have another issue you'd never know which can be dangerous for your car. This is a thread specific to the Alpine motorsports tune, it's disrespectful to fill up other posts with answers to his question when it has nothing to do with this thread. One of the big issues with these forums is there are a ton of completely unrelated posts on threads which then people respond to and end up filling up a few pages. It then makes it an issue for new people visiting the thread to have to go back multiple pages to see the actual discussion about the topic of the thread. It's best to tell people new to the forums posting in the wrong area to go to the correct forum category instead of answering their question directly in my opinion.

If you are in 3rd gear and up. Press the gas so you are slightly above 2K rpm and then let go of the gas, it will decel (obviously)and once it it goes below 2K it will pop, I piss off my neighbourhood so much thats all i do when i drive its addicting

Been running this tune for over a month now, the car is so much more enjoyable now.

Here's what I did a year ago... just to give you something to compare with. You can obviously replace parts with what you want.. stage 1 or 2, or not do the cold start delete if you aren't stage 2 (not recommend for stage 1), etc.
