BMW M Performance Exhaust MPE V2.0 for E92 M3 Review
I put together a brief video featuring the installation process of my MPE V2.0: BMW Part No. 18302184201.
Version 2.0 MPEs are distinguished by holes in the top and bottom of both canisters. Additionally, V2.0 units show an update to the part number plate on the exhaust canister itself: The last number on the version 2.0 number plate is "X-ed" out and has a number 4 in its place. See attached picture from my previous E90 M3 V2.0 Exhaust. (Note: Both the E90 and E92 V2.0 MPEs have the last number replaced with a 4). The exhaust sounds perfect to my ear. It comes alive over 3k, and sounds subtly aggressive on start-up in a very satisfying manner. It does not detract from the beautiful induction noise the S65 produces. Do not purchase this exhaust if you are looking for LOUD; you will be disappointed. I hope to update this post in a year or two and provide an update on how the sound has changed and if any cracks emerge. The cracks are supposedly resolved with V2.0. Thanks for the video! MPE sounds great, the problem with it is it sounds great for everyone else outside the vehicle, but because of the sound deadening of the car, you won't hear it much inside. I guess that's what tunnels were made for though?

My favorite mod! Been using MPE's since '11...V1 & V2, never experienced cracks with the V1's but never really had one for too long. Yes, they balance beautifully with the induction unlike race exhausts. Enjoy!

Genuine BMW E9x M3 M Performance Exhaust System Genuine BMW E9x M3 M Performance Exhaust System. Fits all E9x M3 Sedans, Coupes, and Convertibles (including LCIs). Powerful and sporty exhaust note with no droning for everyday suitability. Fabricated from a chrome-nickel alloy called Inconel®. o Inconel® is an extremely heat-resistant and strong material. These qualities allowed engineers to reduce the wall thickness of the exhaust from 1.5mm to 0.8mm without sacrificing strength. o This resulted in a weight reduction of approximately 40% (~20 lbs.) when compared to the stock exhaust. o Inconel is very corrosion resistant and has been used at the highest level of Motorsports. Perforated inner pipes and polished titanium tips (laser-engraved with the M logo) represent the ultimate in technology and sportiness, accentuating the individual character of the BMW M3. Developed using state-of-the art CAD and FEM technology, ensuring optimum fit and OEM quality. M Performance parts are warranted for the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period when the installation occurs before the first delivery of a new vehicle. If the M Performance parts installation occurs after the first delivery, the accessory will be warranted for the balance of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period or two years and unlimited mileage from the date of installation, whichever one is greater. |

Figured I'd share this.
When I drive with my windows down or up with moonroof totally open, I can hear the MPE but I barely here the unique resonance and the howl because the wind noise overpowers it. Today, I just happened to open the moonroof in pop up mode and to my surprise, I get really good audible feedback and am able to hear the resonance changes and the howl. The resonance is that hollow swelling reverb like sound around 3.5-4K and that occurs when decelerating. |

Sorry, I was being a smart ass! The V-2 does have what looks like holes but is NOT...they are re-enforced with tubing running between the cans to prevent cracking that happened in some of the V-1. They both function the same....and drilling holes won't cure anything!
