so this is like a tuned m3 engine from dinan...
one could still do additonal performance mods to their m3 with this stroker package?

Yep, there are all sorts of other potential issues with the longer stroke that could lead to increased wear/friction over time depending on how it is implemented. The nice thing about it is that it preserves the NA quality of the engine, but I don't know what happens to responsiveness. If one doesn't mind letting go off NA, a supercharger would be much easier and cheaper as a power mod. If I do end up modding for power, I think I'll stick to intake and exhaust mods, which would probably yield 20-25hp at high rpms.

These are likely going to be roots type SC and are not going to be cheap either. I would say well above $10K for a reliable one from a good tuner. I also don't think Dinan will charge $35K for the stroker engine, if they do, very, very few people will go for it.

~$10k for a good SC mod sounds reasonable. Dinan is charging $40k for the M5/M6 stroker engine replacement (and I am not sure if that includes labor or not). I don't see how they will drop the price all the way down to $15k or anything in that region for the M3 (despite the fewer number of cylinders). I would guess in the $25-30k region.

Uffff, still sounds way expensive! Perhaps $25!!!! The hugs price tag could be due to the really small number of engines they actually do. I mean, $40K is high even for and M5/6!!! I hope its not that expensive as it would really be nice to keep the NA aspect of the engine a still make a bit over 500hp!!!! But hey, SC is a great option anyway.

Does anyone have performance improvement from the Dinan modified M5/M6?
It would be a good reference for speculating on what the M3 can do with the stroker kit.

It appears the M3 could make about 520hp with the Dinan stroker mods. Price is the big issue.

You can get a M5 engine for about $23,000. Sell your M3 engine for about 15K-18K. Swap should be about $5,000. So for 10K to 13K you can get this done while keeping reliability to the top. I`m not a expert on this topic but I don't see this mod making sense if is more than $15K. No?

I watched all the parts of the video and this question of coating is addressed by dinan.

Fitting the V10 and all the proper ECU modifications is not an easy task at all. Plus, you would sigificantly change the wieght distribution of the vehicles that will somewhat affect peformance and will require several engine modifications. Plus, let me know who will give me $18 for my engine, these things are never true!!! More like $12. So, for say $20, I would rather go with Dinan.

Are you sure the M5 engine costs that much. I do believe I read somewhere that it costs as much as a 5 series.

With the proper brakes and other minor suspension mods, it will fly around the track.

I’m not so sure there are that many options? A NA 520hp BMW M3 with improved suspension is quite a killer!! Very hard to beat! What car would you think is better. This Dinan M3 would be considerably less expensive than, say, a Porsche 997 tt and would probably be comparable in terms of general performance (well maybe just a tad slower), but not much. Plus 4 seats and really nice looking etc…

Useless Benz. Sorry Mexico..by your avatar it seems you like MB, but I don't really like them as they are too heavy and try to be what they aren't! I read the review in my newest issue of Evo (no scanner...sorry), and they didn't like it much...(gave it a 3.4/5 I believe).

Hahahaha!!! Yep, do like the Benz's, but also really do love BMW. They didn't like the SL63? Wow! But yes, MB are heavier etc... but youŽd be suprised what you can do with them.

Yea I think it did lose some of its appeal. But the SL is still a great car, it eats up miles like no other car I know. It is by no means a track car though.
