Awesome review/pics. Too bad, seems like a lot of DIY customization for a high price.

Ditto on all the pros and cons! My experience has been that this kit is a significant improvement over stock on the track. Car feels much more planted/controlled. Got the noise problem too unfortunately...

I am starting to be a bit frustrated because 4 out of 4 Moton owners I've talked to have the noise issue, yet the kit is still marketed and sold as street friendly and add minimal NVH by using some of the factory mounts. The design is clearly flawed, it is still being sold, and Moton cannot figure out a solution. So much for a $5k kit! Last edited by rzm3; 11-28-2009 at 05:42 PM.. |

The Moton pieces look really good. It is a shame that it is making noises. I had the same issue with my KW Clubsports and KW worked with me to find a solution. In the end everything was fixed and everything is running well. I hope Moton helps you guys and a solution is found.

^ hey BC, I've looked at the KW design and their's uses a similar rear spring mounting mechanism as Moton, so I think that ours may be ok. Do you think it may be the springs? If you notice the rear spring top two coils bind on our kit... (see second pic spring on the right)

The sound I had came from the front and it sounded like something was loose even though I had a BMW Tech inspect it 3 times. KW sent me a new damper and the sound was still there but it was not as loud. I was still not happy so I had my tech take it all apart and re do it. In the end we found out that the nut on the damper would slightly come loose after driving so we tightened it and and put on locktite and since then the issue has been resolved. After having owned many modified BMW's I have come to realize that no matter what aftermarket part you put on a car there will always be rattles, sounds or small issues. Good luck with it. I am sure Moton will be able to help you out.

Your problem probably has something to do with the spherical bearings used at the base of the shock. That's why the factory uses rubber there. Replace the bearings with rubber and you might improve the noise. However you may also defeat the advantage of high quality shocks; their excellent response. |

I guess one thing I could try is to use the Moton springs with factory shocks (or Moton shock and factory springs). This way I can determine by elimination whether the noise is coming from the Moton springs (seating position, collar, etc) or the Moton shocks (bushing, valve, etc...)
I really gotta get myself an impact gun first... |
