CIC Apple Carplay head unit from Bimmerplug - Android UI/touchscreen not working

Hey guys, new here. I recently purchased and installed the CIC apple carplay head unit from Bimmerplug and aside from the required aux audio (if anyone has a solution for that also, it would be greatly appreciated) the head unit has been amazing.

However, yesterday while driving with carplay open (waze specifically) my whole screen turned black for about 15-20 seconds then rebooted with the i-drive UI. Touchscreen is no longer working to take me back to the android software. Back up camera still works perfectly, but when I turned off the car and back on, I'm greeted with i-drive CIC UI.

I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and holding down the power button to reset the head unit. Neither were effective.

It's like my system went back to the original software with the exception of the back up camera.

Does anyone have any solution or experience with this?
