Either way, I'm back to trying to acquire a Hard Motorsports brake cooling kit. Bimmerworld is doing some research to find out how much a set of replacement rings for the PFC DD rotors are (and how available).

Certainly for race cars, we've had a set of spare rotors on hand. It would be nice.
They probably are a bit better, granted

I have never run cooling setups but the people that have say it's a massive PITA which I'd like to avoid if possible!

Update

So far:

Michelin Sport Cup2's 255F and 275R
Ground control camber plates
Rod bearings done
Stop Tech BBK 380/355 black calipers

When brakes get installed next week will do Euro MDM and GTS DCT software and stage 1 engine tune with 8,600 rpm limit.

Doing 2 track days in a row at Thermal Club (bringing 2 cars) in early May I'm really excited to get the M3 out to such an amazing track!

Looks good!

I just bedded in my new brakes an hour ago. I couldn't kill them.

I've also got a two-day track day coming up in early June where I think I'll so Sat in the M3 and Sun in the 911 (if the run group is well enough behaved that it doesn't feel like a liability).

I've done a couple track days now and the car is really excellent. It doesn't hide bad driving like the 991, but it doesn't punish it either (the threshold is really big with Pilot 4S).

Have fun!

A friend brought me his M2 this week to test drive it and I remembered about your rotors and the cooling stuff we've discussed

I can confirm F8X M rotors are much better than the E9X ones. They have way more space on the inside to 'suck' air.

A clear improvement on the design. You should be pretty set now

So the car is finally ready! It's no track beast, very stealth almost completely stock looking with the black Stop Tech calipers. She should be fun to toss around (the track that is).

Full list of mods:

MPSC2's 255/275
GC Camber Plates
ST BBK 380F 355R slotted rotors
SFR brake fluid
Coding: Euro MDM, GTS DCT
Alpine Stg 1 tune 8,600 rpm fuel cut
Borla ATAK catback (came with car will replace with Akra slip)

Cheers.

lol haha actually the complete opposite! The more cars and the more likely someone I get behind throws some random debris at my car. My GT3 has a dent in the front bumper from my last trip to ACS. I'm careful to not get behind people just go off line and pass and even at that someone managed to fling a heavy piece of debris sideways and hit me.

I also broke my radiator the same day as the Apex burms are so damn high. I can hit the burms and cut the track at Thermal but not ACS. ACS is also really bad on tires. So to me Thermal is bargain in comparison.

Had a 2 day session at The Thermal Club. They connected all 3 tracks for us both days - very rare when that happens. I brought 2 cars and didn't take much of a break...done with one and jumped in the other

I'll get video coverage shortly but the bottom line is that the car did fantastic! That's my first track event with the e92 and hopefully many more to come.

Updated mods:

StopTech 380/355 street pads
SRF fluid
Silver ZCP wheels with SportCup2's
Black AG359 wheels with RE71R's
GC camber plates with -3.0 F camber
Tune for 8,600 rpm redline
Euro MDM and GTS DCT software
Exhaust is stock now (ditched the Borla)
Full weight nothing removed

The ST street pads are fantastic. Paired with the ST slotted rotor, they have terrific initial bite, and we never experienced any fade over the weekend. Can't say that about the GT3 with upgraded Brembo pads (although the GT3 had much higher entry soeeds). I say "we" as I had my buddy run the M3 who is a much more experienced (and faster) driver than me so I wanted feedback pushing the car to its limits.

Yes, I used the RE71R's on day 1 and the Cup2's on day 2.

I wasn't a fan of the Borla ATAK on the stock 4 cat mid pipe. It droned a little bit and I don't like any drone. The Borla is half the weight of the stock exhaust but it didn't matter enough given the drone compromise.

Yes, I used the RE71R's on day 1 and the Cup2's on day 2.
How did the Tires compare (Cup2 vs RE71R)? Rumor has it that the 275/35/19 cup2 is a unique and sub-par compound. You think that's true?

I'm also curious how the front Cup2's wore. I have been dealing with excessive outer wear on my Cup2's but I have made some setup changes which I hope will correct that.

OP, if you don't mind changing out the pads, the ST track pads are pretty phenomial compared to the StreetSport pads, which I've tracked on a few times before upgrading. The ST track pads are also cheaper than other pads. I have the R33 and my buddy the R34. He feels the R34 are too grabby for precise brake modulation at times.

Ok good to know. Just getting to know the car all over again on the track. The old man behind the wheel needs a lot more improvement before further modifications are made. Plus it's a combo street/track car and love the silence of the street pads. Hopefully soon I can start pushing at the track and upgrade tires and of course pads as well. I'll keep the ST track pads in mind thx.

Heck I'll throw in solid guide pins and ss lines for the front of you're set on trying the oem setup. Castrol SRF or similar, t700, endless for fluid. You'll prob end up getting bbk though.

For you I would recommend just getting a bbk and jrz rs pro and seats and half cage and it's a pretty good car with just that.

Brakes see above
Suspension JRZ RS Pro / MCS 2-way - a bit more coin but dampening is superior, thus makes it more supple, suits the age comment lol
Wheels - get the newer Apex wheels, they are stronger. I bent my Arc8 on the first day but never had an off, just some hard jumping berms. SM10 or FL5, I think I'm going to swap for one of these wheels.
Hey man, can I still grab those pads? Your inbox is full
