I know most of you guys are in Cali, but for those in the southeast this is relevant. A few weeks back there was a very bad crash at Roebling Road during an hpde where a driver had some kind of sudden medical issue which caused him to lose control of the car killing him and severely injuring the instructor. There is a GoFundMe campaign to support the instructor's recovery as well as a local campaign by Apex Atlanta in partnership with Jzilla for a raffle for a free track day for a $20 donation. And you automatically get a $25 voucher for your next Jzilla track day regardless. If any southeast guys are interested in entering the raffle you can PM me. And here's the GoFundMe link: https://www.gofundme.com/patrickwilsonsrecoveryfund

And I'm not trying to twist anyone's arm for a donation, just wanted to share the info.

Thought this was a fun grouping of cars to see lined up at COTA today. Look closely, 991 GT3, 991.2 GT3, 991 GT3 RS.

Installed the new MCS 2W last night. Now just need to get a nitrogen tank or something for filling them. Anyone have any recommendations?

I built my own nitrogen rig years ago. These days, there are a lot a decent ready-to-go solutions that aren't much different in cost than what I did.

PowerTank seems to make nice stuff that's ready to go. I don't own anything they make, but I think this little tool could work pretty well:

http://powertank.com/products/sfID1/29/productID/98

You attach that to one of their regulators ( http://powertank.com/products/sfID1/29/productID/441 ) and get a tank either from them or an industrial air supplier and I think you have a pretty kickass system.

Their video gives some insight to how their stuff works:

My ONLY comment on every ready-made setup I've seen is that I think it is important to bleed old air out of the system, and also bleed dirty air out of the air hose line so that you are just putting fresh nitrogen back into the canister. Most systems do not have a bleed button to release air from the closed line system once it's all attached, like the button you press on a tire gauge to reduce tire pressure, so if you want that extra button, you'll have to add it to the air line yourself.

I don't like the super simple way of just pressing a ball chuck onto a canister. You cannot get accurate with that at all.

Great weekend at COTA, a little wet but I got a few dry sessions in, tried my hand at instructing some friends for the first time, and generally enjoyed gawking at the insane cars this track pulls in! Can't wait to get back there!

It was great to meet you over the weekend. That track is insane.

cota seems to be the new "holy grail" of north american tracks... not too far to make a little vacation road trip to, either.

It's about a 10hr drive for me. Would be sick if all could plan on a date and meet down there for a weekend.

I rented an M235ir instead of shipping or driving my M3 out there. It worked out really well. Great experience with two guys on hand to get the car ready for each session. They even latched my seatbelts lol

there is a local coordinator (speedventures) that plans a yearly weekend at COTA. they also help coordinate transport, its not cheaper than coordinating transportation yourself, but its a thing.

my ideal trip would be to have the car shipped out from socal, fly out to austin and check out the city for a few days, pickup the car, hit the track for at least a day, then drop the car off and fly back the next day or so. i've heard the city is pretty cool. i wouldn't mind making a week out of it. i don't know if going with the group would allow me to just drop off the car at a designated place/time. i think it came out to about $1,200. not terrible considering lodging and fuel costs of driving the car out there myself. if i was in more of a position to do it in the past i would have investigated further.

thats really cool! what company did this for you? might actually be a really fair deal as opposed to shipping your own car out there.
hell, i'd even consider a miata or something.

Great meeting you as well and too funny randomly running into each other and then making the connection! Cup 2's did fairly well in the wet, unfortunately only 2 true dry sessions over the weekend so no extra data on the wear issue. I do have zero toe up front now whereas I had slight toe out last time I was out, that may have been a contributing factor, tbd.

Glad you enjoyed the weekend despite the weather.

I've had pretty aggressive toe on my last set of tires in the front. Really got messed up while my rears are fine. Will probably run zero toe going forward, or very very little

I have the Powertank setup for my 3W remote MCS

Very nice kit. Around 600-700 which seems insane, but it's in a nice briefcase so I don't feel like I'm about to die driving with a pressurized tank flying around the car
