Been chatting with a friend it seems like the H8 is similar to carbotech XP8, not too hardcore. I think I'll try those H6 first then, fingers crossed!

Ive also often set them right after having a passenger for a session.
Its amazing how the car works so much better w/o that extra load.
I was actually very unsmooth on throttle and brakes. Will need to work on that next time I'm out there. I actually felt that the Cayman slowed me down a bit at T15.

A few of my friends were there this weekend, they were in a blue GT4 (this guy is insanely fast) and a Sakhir orange F80 M3. Sorry I missed the fun but will be back with MVP Tracktime in ~4 weeks!
I wasn't very happy with it. I was shooting for 2:38.XX, and my data shows that my car and I are capable of that. I'm sure I could have gotten a better time if the majority of my laps weren't spent stuck behind drivers who are oblivious of their surroundings or simply refuse to give me a point for up to ten corners. Chin put me in the green run group because it was my first time running with them; will request a check ride for intermediate during my first session at my next Chin event.

FWIW, my last event at COTA was in Nov 2016. I didn't get a single clean lap at that event, and my best time was 2:54 (HLT). So the improvement is still pretty good.

There were a lot of GT4s, and I did not see an orange F80. Ortho281 was there.

My "home" track is permanently closed, so I can't get a good comparison between the Federals and NT01s. I don't think I was using them to their full potential, and I think I will need to do another day or two to get comfortable with the tires. They do grip well and warm up very quickly. I like to run my tires at 36 psi hot, and figured that 30 cold would be a good starting point, given that I would need to take it slow since I hadn't been to COTA in a while. At the end of my first session, I was at 41-42 psi hot. I'll start at 25 cold next time (did 27-28 with NT01s and NS-2Rs).

I could feel when I was at the limit with NT01s. They screech at the limit. You can also get a good amount of slip angle with them. I don't know if it was just me not using them to their full potential (COTA is scary and has lots of walls), but I did not experience any slip angle with the FZs. They give less warning than the NT01s before giving out on you, both through feel and sound. At the limit, they give a faint howl which I only experienced at second apex of T6.

I think you’ll like them. FWIW, I liked to run them at 36 psi hot, and setting the pressure to 27-28 cold (depending on course direction) would put them right at my desired hot pressure. Did you get 120 or 180 TW?

Yummy yummy. Rotora was shockingly quick, got my new pads in just a few days. Thinking of going with street/light track compound first, then the gold track/race pads after I run through a set.

I get 265s. I dunno, but the 275s I got were not in as good condition as 265s for cast offs - and I think this is because the 275s come off a heavier car.

Spent the day visiting the Porsche display at the Petersen automotive museum in LA.

The most ridiculous thing I've seen on a car to date is the engraved rotors with painted rotor veins.

ordered a set of front/rear endless n052 pads, thanks to the bimmer challenge guys for the great deal. can't wait to try them out!

on another note, i found this interesting tidbit while looking for videos dissecting coilovers. this e9x has a blade style rear swaybar. looks expensive, but might be a cool/easier way to dial in/out steering feel. its at 4:05 in this vid.

Really cool, never seen that before.

Turner actually has the front kit for our car for $3800. Really not that bad considering it comes with a modified subframe. Only $2400 if you can modify your own subframe.

Yes, but it requires their $8k dry sump oil system for bar clearance.

My indi girl passed away this morning. Wasn't very old, but was in poor health. Some of you met her at the track. Bummer.
