Is EDC on North Jersey roads a must?

So I'm in the market for an e92 m3 and was wondering if edc is a must (well maybe not a must but strongly suggested)? There are some nasty potholes in the area and do not want to go threw multiple sets of rims

Not a needed option, most people can't even tell the difference between the settings.

really? i find the difference to be night and day... i mean the roads are complete shit where i live, and in comfort setting its tolerable. But in sport+ its just undriveable.

To each his own, I feel a difference, most of the customers say they cant

There is a major difference between the settings. If there seems to be no difference than there's something wrong. With that said EDC or not the car will be fine as long as you aren't doubling the speed limits on roads and crashing into potholes.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to drive around in 'sport' mode all the time

I can only feel a noticeable difference when I'm really throwing the car especially on bumpy pavement or mountain curvy roads/track. I mean, Don't expect it to change your driving experience driving 35~50mph on a way to Stop&Shop and taking corners at an intersection....

From my experience, the E9X EDC change between different modes was definitely more dramatic than F80 M3 EDC, mainly because the "regular" F80 M3 (Non-LCI, non-CS, non-Competition pack) is unnecessarily stiff to begin with. In other words, the "comfort" mode of E9X M3 does take irregular bumps very well and is actually "very comfortable" among many sport sedans.

Driving down bad portion of Rt-46, I80, fort lee, Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark area, I felt like the F80 M3 even on comfort mode, the car felt like breaking apart and interior creaking everywhere (it was a less than 8K all stock car)

My point: E9x with EDC or non-EDC (which is a permanent normal mode) is comfortable to drive on regular roads of northern NJ

You could go for an e92 with 18 inch rims. For example the 219s.

I personally have EDC and enjoy it. The stiffness is greatest for highway driving where the road is smooth. But prior to getting my ZCP I test drove a non EDC with 219 rims and I thought it was great.

I can notice a big difference in settings on mine, car doesn't have that many miles though. Worn shocks is probably a different story. Either way if you hit a big pothole your in trouble

i have it and i'm glad that i have it.
the sports mode (== regular in non-edc) is the mode i use for most of the time. sports+ is too hard for most public road around here. and when going through a rough patch of highway / seeing some bumps coming up i'll switch to comfort. also comfort is good when i'm just chauffeuring my family around.

I drive around South Jersey/Philly and the roads are garbage here too. I also have a 128i and what a bumpy ride! The e92 is much smoother around town.

You can definitely feel the difference between EDC and non EDC but I don't think it is "necessary".

Much appreciated for the feedback everyone! And if you're wondering, I think I'm going to go the edc route... wish me luck! And let me know if you want to sell your m3 well below market value hahah
