Question about M Key settings

What does M Key do? I read somewhere it's your default startup settings? In trying to figure out how to get the car to default to D mode instead of S mode?

If you want it to go into D instead of S, you would have to do the GTS Transmission flash. I have it on my car and it goes into D2 now.
