The look is actually growing on me, so this week, I'm going to do the same thing to the side gills.

Very original idea. Great job! What about brushed aluminum trim with a matte black grill? I think that might look really cool. Anyone out there willing to give it a try and post some pics?

Well, that can be done. After the brushed part is done, just mask off the outside of the grill and paint the slats with matte black paint.

Great idea. I have SS with Fox and aluminum trim... was thinking of Black grills but just wasnt sold on the idea due to the color combo of my car and i didnt care for chrome.... so this works. I may do the side gills as well while I'm at it. Thanks for posting pics. I think it matches the aluminum trim nicely. I have clear reflectors... I'll post a pic up after I get it done maybe this weekend.

I think you should do it to your 19"s wheels also. You would have to be pretty brave to try it (as new wheels aren't cheap) but it could turn out awesome.

Looks great man! I did this right before I painted my grill black, I was thinking about leaving it polished, but realized that it might change color during the winter months and after it rains it will leave water stains on it, then you'll have to polish all over again. For the long term maintenance I chose to paint mine black.
Keep up the good work! |

Great work! The brushed look definitely makes the front end looks more refined. For me chrome was too bright, while matte black was a bit too dull for my tastes,so this is perfect.
Not sure what type of metal is used, but any concern for oxidation?

No oxidation. The chrome is faux chrome on a plastic. It's not really metal. So no oxidation.
