New California exhaust law

What are you west coast guys gonna do with your modified exhaust. If it's over 95 decibels you get a $1000 fine.

It's no different than it was before, it's just a fine. And it's not $1k. I don't know why there is so much hype about it.

Even if it's not $1000 it's not a fix it ticket anymore. I thought also that you car will need to be inspected to make sure you have complied.

It's astonishing how much false information is flying around all media channels and people that are taking it as truth. Everyone take a look at the link below, no law actually changed, the only thing that changes is the ticket is no longer a fix it ticket. I got a non correctable exhaust ticket, it was $200 fine and I did not have to go get the exhaust checked by a state referee. You can get an exhaust ticket without a state ref.

Yes, it's all subjective to the cop and I guess your set up.

Here's it is all explained by jalopnik:

The whole referee thing has already been in place. If you haven't gotten hassled yet, nothing is going to change unless you have an exhaust dump out of your hood and you like the sound of your anti lag pops.

This is social media hype and scare tactics. The state simply realized they weren't making money on a correctable cite and changed that small part of it.

Eh... idk man... based on this situation below and a couple buddies with factory ZCP M3's that have been cited I'd think it's a bit hyped.

Aside from the $193 or $1k fine, having to take time off work and go to court for having a factory exhaust that a cop subjectively decided is too loud is absolutely ridiculous to me.

Yet, there's Harley's that are rolling around so loud that you can't even hear yourself think and yet they're exempt

People have already been fined 1k so it's not all hype.
