I had a few people ask me about being able to skip paying the 7 security deposits. Unfortunately as part of the lease assumption, the security deposit transfers over to the assumee. So basically at the end of the lease BMWF will cut a check to you for the $5,250. So if I didn't ask for the security deposit reimbursement as part of the lease transfer process, I would effectively be giving the lease assumee my security deposit. With my already low payment and my downpayment that is a sunk cost and I am not looking to recover, I'm not willing to subsidize my lease by an additional $5,250 at this time. I wish there was a way to disentangle that since I know the large amount of money is a barrier to getting the lease transferred. At the time I started this lease I obviously didn't plan on trying to transfer my M3 lease and thought the ~$50/month payment savings for the extra security deposits was worth it. |
