i've had this fantasy of loading up my car and flying to austin. fly out and receive the car when it arrives and explore austin for a few days and track it. then load it back up and fly home. i'd be curious as to how easy this worked for you.
I found that it made more sense to rent a car. I did a day with an M235ir
I remember that. Was it literally cheaper, or just less of a pain in the ass?
I will have to look but I think the rental was like $2900. That included everything. Car was there waiting with two guys supporting, Hoosier slicks and Hankook rain tires, gas, etc. I ended up buying insurance since the contract required that I write a check for cost of car within 7 days if totaled.

I figured transport would be about $3k round trip. Plus the cost to run my car, etc
That's not bad at all. Do you remember what insurance cost? I always get it.

I think when speed ventures does their annual thing at cota, it's like $1,200 round trip, but that's with all the cars on the same truck going to the same place.

Insurance was around $600 iirc. $100k coverage. Would cover whole weekend

It’s situations like this where I like to refer to the teachings of a true legend of our time - Kenny Rogers - when he said “You never count your money when your sittin at the table”. One should never, ever keep track of your costs during a build. Only at the end of a build should you look back and total the costs if you are a glutton for punishment. No reason to let things like responsibility and maturity ruin your fun!

Been learning how to TIG weld. It definitely takes practice.

Welded on 3 bungs and they are leak free. So yay! Next up...weld in a patch plate on my S54 oil pan.

awesome. i'm sort of trying to learn cad. i've been watching a ton of youtube videos, and they are very helpful. however, i think the free software i was using (fusion360) was a little different capability wise than the paid version. i also learn better if i can ask questions.
i'd like to take classes. there is a place somewhat near my house that has a markforged printer that has inconel sintering and carbon printing capabilities. i think it would be really cool to make the parts i have in my imagination.

got a few things ordered for planned maintenance- a coil puller tool, oem spark plugs from fcp (replacements for life<3), and some teknofibra heat shield. i'm planning on lining the bottom of the karbonius plenum and neck with the teknofibra. expensive stuff, and probably overkill, but i've been looking for an excuse to play with it.

Haha staggered just to replace my street set of TE37 SL BE. I'm over it.. just want some clean, silver street wheels.

Sticking with the standard 18x10 +25 275 square for track. NT01 mounted on there now, can't wait to try the car out next track day

I took advantage of the distributor my shop uses having a sale on Monday, so I snagged an AP Racing BBK for the E46 M3 track car. Hopefully this solves my "shattering rotors every track day" problem.

Look out, Visceral, my underpowered M3 is going to be quicker next year :P

I've debated buying that detailer creeper. How sturdy is it?

I'm about 225lbs and it feels pretty good. The drawer in the middle is kind of stupid, the bottle holders aren't that great, but it is sturdy and the wheels are good quality.

Yes but some might argue with all those savings you practically made money. Glass half full, half empty, or something like that

Here’s a good place to spend more if don’t already have one...

So 7k... and that is 40% off with trade... I mean I can easily see where they would have stashed the blow but how in the hell did they manage to fit all the hookers in there? For that price you can’t tell me they weren’t included...

Seriously though that thing is legit. Well done.

Hahaha!

Yeah man the epiq series is the Bugatti of snap on boxes, with the hutch and side locker it'll be the last box I own for at least 15 years
I outgrew the 2 boxes I have now so it has been on my list on year

I just broke the news to my wife 10 min ago and she isn't mad at all, she thinks it a steal at what I paid lol

Glad that's over , I've been shitting bricks since I bought it 😂
