yea, i think its the route i need to go after thinkin it through. i'm 6'03", and with a helmet on, i'm in almost constant contact with the roof pillar. i think i'd be happy about 2-3" lower.

Might be a lot lower than that. This photo is a circuit II qrt on the highest position with BK direct mounts.

they also sell seat pads that might raise your seating position about an inch. might be helpful for fine tuning.

Confirming BK mounts with sliders offer no ability to lower seat over stock?

its going to depend on the mounting points on the seats, but with these sparco evo XL seats, i felt about the same height. if it is actually lower, its less than 1/2". i'm pretty ocd about my seating position and it felt very close to oem height.

I'm 6'0" - 190lbs and am leaning toward an evo L or recaro profi, depending on what fits better. I wanted to get a bit lower and keep sliders, so I think the BK setup will still work.

Recaro should sit lower than Sparco naturally, but as mentioned above if you ditch the sliders the direct to floor BK sit real low.

i'll have a driver's side slider that i won't be able to send back. i'll cut you a deal on it.
i feel like i keep repeating this, but its relevant to seat/mounting needs- i'm 6'03" and relatively slim at 235 right now. if i was 3" shorter, i'd be happy with this setup. i think the seat is a little deeper because its an XL, but i can't use the lowest notch on the rear mount because the seat bucket bottoms out. thats what i'm talking about when i'm saying that the mounts on the seat are relevant to position. it would be nice if the seats had two sets of mounts at the front and rear for some kind of adjustability at the seat.

i'll include a pic and you can eyeball the height at the lowest position possible. i only had time for one seat last weekend.

small update on some minor things, but i think people appreciate the weight figures here and there.

the headliner (slicktop) is removed. headliner weight is 6lbs, sunvisors and A pillars are 2.11 lbs, overhead lights are 1.12lbs, and the sound deadening fluff stuck to the roof is 1.4lbs. so a little over 10lbs from the highest point in the car.

e92 rear side panels 3.10lbs.

i got the dash tube out for drilling and it is exactly 13lbs.
i've also been working on lightening up a single hump dash. after removing the insulation, airbag, moulded vents for hvac, and drilling a few holes, its down about 10lbs over my unmolested double hump dash with the airbag attached. i'll be keeping the hvac controller for the defrost function (those vents aren't affected). i've also read somewhere if you get rid of the hvac controller, it messes with the car's efan... i need to do more research on that, i may be mistaken. planning on ogshark's electric power steering kit when it is available.

the dj is going to help thin some wiring while the seats are out of the car.

I just wrapped up a fun project. A single hump conversion and dash support tube optimization. I removed some of the moulded ducting off of the dash, drilled some holes covered by trim, and removed all the insulation underneath the dash.
Then I drilled the dash tube and took off some excess material.
While I had the dash off, I removed some insulation from the firewall. There is a ton back there I couldn't get to, which will be a project for another time.
Total weight savings is a little over 15 lbs.

Hah.. Truly classic! It's definitely fitting given the effort. Oh, and of course the holyness. Bag it quick!

i found a cool product i thought i'd share. once i got my seat in with the direct to floor mounts, i found i was sitting a little lower than i would have liked, and the seat was in the highest position. this is a common thing with direct to floor mounts.
i'm 6'3", maybe a little taller. proportional legs and arms, but i don't feel like my torso is exceptionally long. the seat is comfortable, but a bit firm. i started getting curious about seat pad options. a quick search yielded some options- something looking like a generic cut of a yoga pad... then i found a premium option, the UPR racing full bottom pad. there are two versions- regular, and one that adds about 1.5" of height. this pad replaces the bottom seat pad your seat comes with.
i drove the car for a little bit today with the pad and i have to say, it is perfect. feels great, doesn't get hot, has a grippy (not sticky) affect to it, and it put me at the perfect height. my eye line is right below the bottom trim of the oem rear view mirror. and just as advertised, it has a progressive feel to it. the first inch is really squishy and gets progressively firmer. feels like a slight suspension seat. i'm very pleased with it.

precisely.

but it could be a booster seat for little guys, too... just depends on where you like to sit. i feel like the available options were too high or too low. my seat is as high as it can be adjusted. i think i can go down one more notch in the rear before the seat bucket makes hard contact with the floor bolt, so if it was too tall, i have some adjustment.

You should consider a different seat/brand with different side bolt locations. That pad loses a lot of the side bolstering support. Looks like a lovely pad though!

i was thinking about that as well. it is tapered towards the back towards where your butt fits and it doesn't feel like i lost a lot of bolstering around my hips. i may just buy the smaller version and see how i like it and send one back or maybe just have another one for the passenger seat.

I'd drill some holes in that seat cushion.
