Wow... I am crushed seeing this. Seriously impressed by your upbeat attitude and positive outlook on getting going on the next project. I am just wincing thinking about the attention to detail that went into this.. all to go up in flame.
Glad you are okay though and best of luck with the next project, I'm sure it'll be a monster! |

You are a lucky man , such a bad outcome of an epic project, but at least you are safe to fight another day. Good luck with the rebuild

God that sucks, I'm sorry that happened bud. But happy you made it out safe and sound. It's a tragedy, but the ability to do it is still resting between your ears. Best of luck sir.

I am so sorry that happened... I think we were all looking forward to this hitting the streets.
That said, I'm glad there were no injuries.

So sorry man. At the same time, here you are strong and healthy after being that close to that massive danger. Wish you all luck in working things out with your insurance companies and find energy for a new Project!

I got teary eyed looking at those final pics. I admire your positive outlook! Glad you are okay, but Christ it must feel like losing a child. I've had my fair share of projects but nothing as epic as this build. On a brighter note, I can't wait to see what you have in store for the next build

My heart seriously hurts for you. Reminds me of when i was 16 and built my first wide body car and totaled it with less than a full tank of gas through it. It's almost like losing a loved one.
So glad to see you are safe. That was a hell of a blaze (no pun intended). Just focus on the positive, and know that you supplied so many of us with joy when you would post! Good luck on your next project! |

Wow, I am terribly sorry to hear about your loss. I've been following this thread religiously and am truly sad to not be able to see this build completed. I look forward to what you will come up with next. Good luck!

Thanks you all so very much. Many of you have posted since the start and your posts have been quite motivational throughout and have really helped this week. I cannot express fully how much I have appreciated it. I also would like to give a huge shoutout to the guys at Active Autoworke, KMS Racing Engines, The Driveshaft Shop, VAC Motorsports, C&R Racing, Mara Plating, Ultimate Powdercoating, Mike and Tyler whose regular weekend presence really made this project and so many others involved from the beginning. I could not have gotten this far without the amazing support and highly recommend each and every one of them.
This was my mid-life climb to the peak of Everest. I got really close, but didn't accomplish what I set out to do. As I've been getting really close to the end of this build, I'd been refining plans for the next two builds and trying to decide which to take on next. Those plans have to wait as I still have to accomplish my roadster build and get to the Peak!!! I've officially restarted and plans are in the works. I feel like I've just gotten through the warm-up and its time to take it to the next level. Basic theme and design will be the same. BMW S65 based drivetrain, Active SC, Cosworth and KMS on the electronics, etc. Where the build will diverge is I made a bunch of compromises using someone else's chassis to get the BMW in. While the chassis will be fairly similar, I'll be scratch building the chassis this time taking into account all I've learned and wished I knew at the start--and what Dale has told me needs to change! Where the build will really diverge is I'm going to scratch build an aluminum body for the build. While it will be similar to the Ford '33, it will take some design cues from the '28 and '29 and include some of my own design cues as well. I'm signed up for a four day class in metal shaping and I've been offered a bay in a well known coach works where I'll be able to build on weekends and ask lots of questions and learn a ton. This is really fantastic as times well with the timing of putting up a new garage. I'm super pumped and can't wait to get going for real again. All the same vendors are on board, starting to source parts, and busy drawing up the new body and chassis. Thanks again for your support and stay tuned.--I |

I have been following this since the beginning and I had planned on asking to drive out there to see this in person over the next few weekends. I was so saddened by the post with the damage but I am just amazed and inspired by your positive outlook and I can't wait to see the next project. Keep up the excellent work!

Anyway.. who knows this event may have been a lucky turn of event for your physical person. I don't think this was an everest climb it was more like climbing the everest drunk and in summer clothes but a minor error crashed the whole project and saved you. As far as what started the fire in the shop, do you have any clues ? Last edited by Rajmun340; 12-17-2015 at 02:44 PM.. |
