Intake or Tune?

I'm kinda lost on what I should get for my car. I don't know whether I should get an intake or tune, but been kind of leaning on getting an intake. Any opinions on what intake I should get? I've been looking at aFe

Huge waste of money. Just get a drop-in filter. Get the tune once you get a full exhaust.

Tune. Even with stock exhaust I was very satisfied with the outcome (BPM Sport).

I got the Dinan tune and MPE installed at the same time and quite frankly was a little disappointed as I couldn't really feel a difference. I just had the Dinan CAI installed this past week (and the tech reprogrammed the tune to tell it I had the slip on mufflers even though its MPE which purportedly does flow better than stock and of course now the CAI). Well in a word or two (holy crap) what a difference. Feels like the wick got a lot brighter more aggressive. You know something changed when my wife walked in after first drive for her and exclaimed the fuck happened to the car!?

intake is for looks. drop in filter should be on your list and a stage 2 tune once you get rid of primary cats which is the main source of power.

Neither. There are better mods you can buy.

Intakes do pick up considerable power. However, the best gains are seen with a set of test pipes.

Here's an example showing baseline and 4 different stages on a MY11 M3 on 91 octane. No Software.

Test Pipes will be similar or equal to that of an X-Pipe in performance (depending or not if secondary cats are retained).

I know ,it's the same set up as member Sti and i saw his video, and yes it's very loud and raspy and also drone.
It's ok on short drive trips..but when you need to drive 100-200 miles ...your ears will hurt

Tune more noticeable vs intake (even w/ full cats on). If gonna spend some extra dough beyond tune, pulley is worthwhile for $300-400 (+10-11 hp). Well-documented/proven gains and not really higher running temps (oil or coolant)..maybe a few deg higher on the track if even that. As others have said, the $60 drop in filter for + 5hp is a no brainer.

For around $1k, you could easily get ACM modded exhaust, or a big chunk of a nice used exhaust. That's what I'd go for.

Personally I'm not too interested in gaining 5hp. 5hp /414hp = less than 2% gain
