Looking for an indie mechanic (NorCal)

Just recently got into an m3 and looking for a mechanic to assist in basic maintenance and some mods!

Is there any go to folks in the Bay Area?

Check out Silicon Valley Bimmer if you're close to Santa Clara. Been to them a couple of times, both good experiences.

How are they priced? It seems like most of the performance shops here are over the top expensive.

Thanks for the tip

+1 for Silicon Valley Bimmer, they did the rod bearings on my 08 M3. They were running a special at the time, but the price was about 30% cheaper than the other shops in the area.

Prior to that, I've done a lot of business with EDGE in Mountain View. They are very good too, but on the pricier side.

I'd give them a call for some quotes - you won't be disappointed

Just gave Ricardo a call. Very fair prices.
Looks like I'm changing my vanos sensor... I swear I thought the e46 & e36 issues didn't carry over to the e9x

What were the signs of it going bad? Did you throw a CEL too?

271B - P0015
Information saved in DME
Fault code 271B - P0015
Fault text VANOS control, exhaust bank 1
Fault description 'B' Camshaft Position -

It happens on an overnight cold start. Right as it's dropping revs to about 800 rpm, it hiccups and cel turns on

Thanks for the info, I'm sure you'll be glad once that's taken care of. Hope it's smooth from there on out!

VT Motorworks in Pleasanton. Would not take my car anywhere else. Very reasonably priced, and pay a crazy attention to detail.
